PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Economically built,
double wall, steel aboveground tank for the storage of flammable
and combustible liquids having a content capacity of 1,125 L [250
imp. Gallons]. Listed ULC-S601-07 as an horizontal model, it
resting on two (2) fully welded saddles. Tank has leakage
detection via constant vacuum monitoring of its interstitial space.
Suitable for outdoor and indoor installations (Important to follow
local regulations and authorities having jurisdiction before tank
installation is performed).

General

The supplied Tank(s) shall be a new shop fabricated double wall steel storage tank for flammable and combustible liquids. Tank is to
be horizontal and for an aboveground stationary installation. Its double wall steel construction provides a superior protection against
any possible leaks. All welds to be continuous to have better rust protection and maintain a high degree of structural integrity & quality.
All steel surfaces are to be sandblasted & primed prior to painting for best paint adherence. Quantity and size of openings &
attachments reflect a typical installation requirement.

Definitions

The following definitions are specifically related to the terms used in this specification and may differ from those used by the tank
Manufacturer.

Storage Tank or Tank: Container/tank(s) assembly listed under ULC code requirement used to
store petroleum liquid product.

Interstice /
Interstitial Space: Space between the walls of a double walled tank. Vacuum monitored for leakage detection.

Vent: A device that allows the passage of air or vapour into or out of a tank. Follow NFC
requirements for outdoor and indoor installations. Inside tank vent may require to be vented to
the outside.

Normal Vent – A vent that satisfies the requirements for air or vapour exchange to or from the
storage tank during normal operating conditions.

Emergency Vent – A vent that allows the escape of air or vapour from a tank due to excess
pressure from fire exposure or internal explosion.

Specifications for steel Tank(s)

The following specification is for a new horizontal double wall steel construction tank, having a capacity of 1,118 Liters [246 imp. Gal.].
Built to CAN/ULC-S601-07 certifications. Tank(s) comes with a 300° wrap double wall and shall be continuously monitored by a
vacuum drawn in the interstice to help identify any possible fluid release. Units come with two (fully welded) saddles supports with
anchoring holes. All threaded openings for connections are located on top of tank.

Reference Standards

I. Underwriters Laboratories of Canada, ULC-S601-07 “Standard for Shop Fabricated Steel Aboveground Tanks for
Flammable and Combustible Liquids”, section 4.10 “Utility Tanks”.
II. The installation of such tanks shall be in accordance with, but not limited to:
- National Fire Code of Canada, Part 4;
- CSA B139, Installation Code for Oil Burning Equipment;
- CCME Environmental Code of Practice for Aboveground and Underground Storage Tank Systems Containing
Petroleum and Allied Petroleum Products; and
- Regulations of the appropriate authority having jurisdiction.

Material
I. Tank shells are to be a good welding quality, carbon or low alloy steel as per ULC-S601-07 code requirement.
Plate material shall exhibit minimum yield strength of 200MPa.
II. Lift lugs, brackets & saddles (supports) shall also use same material as stated as above.
III. Emergency vent cap to be made of stainless steel ASME SA240 Grade 340 or equivalent to prevent rusting.
IV. Safety labeling as per ULC-S601-07 Regulation. Material shall be compatible with tank content.
V. All fasteners to be Stainless Steel ASTM F593C.

per UL-142 procedures. Supplied with all necessary tank brackets, Aluminum bracing and stainless steel fasteners.
X. Interior liner, Pump box, Skid frame, Manway, stair & Catwalk system, Bumper & Guard system.

Access Landing

Connections & Attachments

For additional safety, the tank shall have all fuel supply and return connections located above liquid level. All connections on tank are
to be female NPT (National Pipe Thread).

Tank to be supplied with the following connections & attachments:

I. Four (4) x 50mm [2in] body flange, female NPT.

II. One (1) x 100mm [4in] emergency vent, welded to tank, c/w stainless steel vent cap.
III. One (1) x Vacuum gauge (0 @ -30 in.Hg read out). Oil filled. Notice: Vacuum gauge shall be installed at
manufacturer’s plant with vacuum pulled in interstice prior to delivery.
IV. One (1) x 38mm [1-1/2in] Interstice space vent.
V. One (1) x Lifting lug as per ULC-S601-07.
VI. Two (2) x Saddles Supports. Fully welded to tank. 89mm [3-1/2in] ground clearance c/w four (4) x 19mm [3/4in]
anchor holes on each corner to give additional safety and prevent tank flotation in case of flooding.

External Finish

Surface Preparation:
All surfaces to be painted shall be prepared in accordance with SSPC-SP6 Commercial Blast to achieve an anchor profile of 38~64
microns [1.5 to 2.5 mils] or as per coating manufacturer’s instructions. All welding shall be continuous and smooth to allow a consistent
paint coating and better rust protection. Manufacturer shall remove dust and excess water from the steel surfaces prior to the
application of the coating system.

Coating Application:
All welds and sharp edges shall be strip coated before the application of each coat. Manufacturer shall apply coatings using airless
spray or as per coating manufacturer’s instructions. Colour of each coat shall vary in order to distinguish between coats.

Primer Coat: Manufacturer shall apply one (1) coat of two components, high performance, corrosion resistant Epoxy
Primer. VOC compliant. Applied at a dry film thickness (dft) of 76~127 microns [3~5 mils].

Top Coat: Manufacturer shall apply one (1) coat of high performance, industrial grade Polyurethane. VOC
compliant. Applied at a dry film thickness (dft) of 50~76 microns [2~3 mils].

Delivery

Manufacturer must adequately prepare and protect tank(s) & accessories for shipping. All tank openings are to be sealed and made
water proof prior to transport using steel plugs. All unused openings must be sealed after installation, using same steel plugs. If
customer reserves the right to inspect tanks at the manufacturer’s site prior to shipment, manufacturers shall provide advance notice of
at least five (5) working days prior to being ready for inspection.

Field Support

Manufacturer shall include installation & maintenance instructions as per ULC-S601-07 Code to the General Contractor’s
tradespersons for instructing them on any field assembly (if required). The Manufacturer shall give drawing(s) explaining all openings &
attachment for standard installation. All installation must follow local regulations and authorities having jurisdiction.

Warranty

Manufacturer warrants its new tanks from any manufacture, material and workmanship defects for a period of five (5) years from the
original purchase date from factory.

The exterior paint finish will not corrode , rust or peel for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date from factory, if the
tank is used solely for its intended purpose, as per pertinent ULC building code and standards.

Drawings

The drawing(s) listed below are referred by this document. These provide the standard tank assembly, openings and accessories
layout for the tank. The openings shown have been selected based on the most common needs of filling, emptying, level monitoring
and venting. These drawing(s) are typical only and if the General Contractor has different support details these must be reflected in the
submission of the structural support drawing(s).

Manufacturer shall provide complete shop drawing(s) for the tank and access steps (if any) for approval prior to commencing
manufacture. The drawings shall be dimensioned with sufficient details to show all nozzles and associated accessories including
grounding and anchoring features.

If additional space for access and egress is required around the tanks this will be confirmed at a later date.
