69 BC
Cleopatra is born in Alexandria, Egypt.
49 BC
Cleopatra is forced to leave Alexandria
by her brother. She is to go to Syria. Once
there Cleopatra raises an army to
confront her brother Ptolemy XIII
47 BC
Caesar uses his army to defeat and
destroy Cleopatra’s brother. Ptolemy
XIII dies drowning while trying to
escape the battlefield.
44 BC
Caesar is assassinated and her
other brother Ptolemy XIV is
poisoned to death so her son
Caesarian can become her co-
ruler.
40 BC
Cleopatra gives birth to Antony’s
children who are twins. The boy is
named Alexander and the girl is
named Cleopatra.
32 BC
Octavian declares war on
Cleopatra.
51 BC
Cleopatra’s father died after a reign
of 58 years. Cleopatra and her brother
co-rule Egypt together. Cleopatra is
18 and her brother is 10.
49 BC
Cleopatra meets Julius Caesar who
is around 52 years old where as
Cleopatra was 21. Cleopatra
arranged to meet Caesar by rolling
herself up into a carpet and having
it delivered to Caesar’s house.
Captivated by her Caesar takes her
in as a mistress.
46 BC
Cleopatra gives birth o Caesar’s
son called Caesarian of Little
Caesar.
42 BC
Cleopatra joins forces with Roman
leader Marc Antony. Cleopatra is
interested in him, as she needs a new
Roman leader to protect as Caesar is
dead.
37 BC
Cleopatra and Marc Antony get married
even though it is illegal. Octavian starts a
battle. He is the ruler of Rome and also
Julius Caesar’s adopted son.
31 BC
Cleopatra makes a deal with Octavian to kill
Antony so that she will be safe. However she
decides she cannot kill Antony and so she tricks
hi into thinking she is dead. When he hears he
kills himself and dies. After Antony’s death and
the defeat of her forces Cleopatra commits
suicide. It is believed that she smuggled
poisonous snakes in a basket of figs and allowed
the to bite her.
