Lesson Objectives:
• Students will be able to actively warm up fingers without using instrument
• Students will be able to create flat “tables” with fingers during guided warm up
• Students will be able to correctly demonstrate proper hand technique while playing #108
in book

their stringed instrument)

LESSON ACTIVITIES

Introductory Activity: Anticipatory Set (Activity that connects the new concepts/objectives to
previous knowledge):
• Students will stretch arms and wrists guided by instructor*
• T will ask students to get pencils out
• S will stand up, place instruments in safe place
o Time allotted: 2

Body of the Lesson (Activities that teach new material/concepts)


• Students will stretch arms and wrists using over head stretches and pulling wrists in
opposite directions
o Time allotted: 1

• Students will do finger taps
• S will put fingers by ears, T ask if they can hear the taps
o Time allotted: 30 seconds ish

• Students will do “squirts” and then form correct tables (e.g. first finger on thumb forming
table)
• T come up with things for the students to hypothetically squirt our from fingers (e.g.
coffee, orange juice, etc)
• T will demonstrate balancing pencils on tables of knuckles
• S will attempt to balance pencils on tables of knuckles.
• T will explain how this is a good way to see if the tables being made are flat and correct
o Time allotted: 2

• Students will go back and fourth forming first and second finger together third and fourth
finger together (live long and prosper) to second and third finger together
o Time allotted: 1

Concluding Activity (final activity of the lesson that that pulls together all of the concepts from
the lesson in a musical success experience)
• Students will pick instruments up, no bows (place in safe place or on stand)
• S will open book to page 35 #108
• T will remind them they have already played this exercise (review from last Friday)
• S will successfully play #108 with proper left hand technique just pizz. (forming tables
correctly)
