POSITION SUMMARY:
The Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical leadership for a high-quality, results-oriented program
focused on reducing gender based violence (GBV) in West Papua. The program’s aim is to improve local capacity to
serve victims of GBV, raise awareness of the problem, and promote behavior change around GBV in local
communities. Position will be based in Jayapura, with regular travel to other regions in West Papua. Position is
contingent upon continuation of donor funding.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Coordinator is responsible for leading technical work under Objective 3 of the program which aims to achieve;
“Increased voice for Bersama Civil Society Organization (CSO) sub-grantees in the fight against GBV”. Working
closely with other program staff and partners, s/he will lead the design and implementation of activities that increase
the effectiveness of networking among CSOs; and help CSOs identify and improve their organizational development
priorities in West Papua. Specific responsibilities include:
Facilitate coordination and networking among CSOs and CBOs to maximize the breadth and impact of their
advocacy on issues of GBV;
Facilitate training to PCSOs and CBOs activists on networking to prevent and respond to GBV issues;
Build organizational capacity of sub-grantees’ in line with their own organizational development priorities;
Improve the organizational management of sub-grantees;
Provide technical assistance to project staff and partners, and serve as Coordinator of West Papua to the Chief
of Party
Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s level degree or higher required in organization development, social work, international
development, gender studies, or a relevant social science discipline.
Work Experience:
Applicants must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working to build organizational
development of CSOs and NGOs particularly in the areas of strategic planning, monitoring and
evaluation, operations and human resources.
Demonstrated experience in forging collaborative activities, networks and coalitions among
PCSOs in policy and advocacy – preferably in areas related to gender
Experience using facilitative, participatory approaches to organizational development
Experience working with varying levels of organizations including PCSOs, CBOs and quasi-
governmental organizations
Experience designing and implementing organizational capacity assessments and other
assessment tools
Experience working in Eastern Indonesia
Preferably live in Manokwari or Sorong, West Papua
Skills/
Knowledge:
Demonstrated effective training and coaching skills, networking, interpersonal skills, creative
problem solving, conflict, and ethical management skills.
Understanding of USAID projects preferred.
Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
