How to activate Handling Unit Management for warehouse?

Solution:
HUM can only be activated on storage location level.

Your storage location should be assigned to a WH:

SPRO -> Enterprise structure -> Assignment -> Logistics Execution -> Assign
warehouse number to plant/storage location

HU requirement has to be set for your SLoc (which is assigned to the WH):

Logistics General -> Handling Unit Management -> Basics -> Materials
Management -> Inventory Management -> HU requirement for Storage Locations
and Default Values for Deliveries

To indicates that a handling unit requirement applies to this storage location.

Notes:

Management of storage locations through handling units is only possible if you

have unique number assignment of the handling unit identification numbers.

When you set the HU requirement indicator for a storage location, you can only
make stock postings if you specify the handling unit.

If you do not specify the handling unit, the system does not create a material
document when you make the posting but creates a delivery document.

Handling Unit Management - Number Range Question :

When trying to access HU02, system prompt this error :" HU functions
outside of the delivery only via unique number assignment". I did update the
config Define pack materials". When I tried to check the box for "Unique HU
number assignment" I get the following error " Packaging material types are
not uniquely set in customizing".

Solution:

Ensure that your packing material types are set up correctly.

Have a look in transaction VHAR at the detail of each type.

In IMG under:

Logistics Execution -> Shipping -> Packing -> Define Number range for Handling
Units

An internal assignment is carried out in the standard delivery for handling units,
from the number range interval '01'. Maintenance of further intervals is not
necessary, as the interval cannot be set.

If the number range is not available for the interval '01', you must insert the
number interval '01'.
