ABSTRACT

THE DEVELOPING OF INTERACTIVE LEARNING MEDIA BASED


PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) BY USING ENNIS CRITICAL
THINKING CAPABILITY INDICATOR OF BIOLOGY MATERIAL

Students felt difficult to comprehend the biology material because of too


many materials and media limitation. Teacher felt difficult to transfer the biology
material because of too many material which should be transferred but it got trouble
in timing allocation. Learning process was not effective, the limitation of LCD,
hence, the media prepared could not be used well. The existence of Computer
Laboratory which good condition but the using Computer Laboratory was just only
focused on basic material learning. Students’ Critical Thinking capability was not
developed. One of alternative learning media which can be used is Learning Media
based Problem Based Learning (PBL) by Using Ennis Critical Thinking Capability
Indicator of Biology Material.
The kind of this research was Research and Development (R&D). The
procedure of this research was adopted from the development which was developed
by Borg and Gall. This research used seven stages as follows: (1) The study of
introduction (2) The research planning (3) The developing of product (4) Validating
design (5) The revising of design validation (6) The tryout of product in wider scale
(7) The revising of product in wider scale. The data collecting instruments were: (1)
The material mastery questionnaire (2) The media mastery questionnaire (3) The
language mastery questionnaire (4) The teacher of Biology IPA’s response
questionnaire (5) The students’ response questionnaire (6) The interview (7) The
documentations.

The research result developed by Learning Media based Problem Based


Learning (PBL) by Using Ennis Critical Thinking Capability Indicator of Biology
Material was very proper with percentage 94,31% by master of material learning,
76,25 by master of language. Whereas the suitable measured was gotten 93,00% by
teacher and 85,30% by students. The characteristics of this media were: (1)
interactive media was easy to use, (2) interactive media used PBL model, (3)
interactive model had have test evaluation used Ennis Critical Thinking Capability
Indicator, (4) interactive media could help students to learn actively and self-
employed.
