CEP A5 Instagram Photo Challenge!

In the upcoming weeks, we will be using the social media platform, Instagram, to review the
grammatical structures we have learned thus far. Instagram is a photo sharing application and website
that allows you to take photos and share them with friends, family, and the rest of the world!

Part 1: Over the next two weeks (March 26-April 9), upload 6 photos to your Instagram account. Along
with the picture, add a caption using the grammatical structure assigned for each photo AND the
hashtag #instaenglisha5 (Insta English A5)

Photo 1, due March 30: relative clause using whose

Example: Photo of a man with purple hair on the subway
Caption: “This man on the subway, whose hair is bright purple, surprisingly plays the guitar very well.”

Photo 2, due April 1: use the relative pronoun which or who to add commentary or your opinion
Example: photo of central park
Caption: I love walking in central park, which is very close to my house.
Example: photo of your roommate
Caption: This is my roommate, who is very crazy and keeps me up all night.

Photo 3, due April 2: relative clause using any relative pronoun

Relative pronouns: who, whom, whose, which, that
Photo 4, due April 6: use the causative have or let (page 69)
Photo 5, Due April 8: use the causative make or get (page 69)
Photo 6, due April 9: use a word or phrase that shows cause and effect from page 71 (do not use
because)

Part 2: Each day that a photo is due, you must also comment on another classmate’s picture. This can
be a question about the picture, a statement about something similar you have seen, or any other
remark based on the photo. This is to engage one another in the photo sharing process and practice
your English with one another outside of class.

Part 3: Finally, follow your teacher @amyjoyESL. I will be posting useful words, phrases, and questions
to you throughout the week, so do not forget to check your Instagram frequently!
