PO1 ENGINEERING Internship at BMRCL has provided field application
KNOWLEDGE of the knowledge of Courses studied during the Civil
Engineering Programme such as Concrete
Technology, Building Construction and Technology,
Prestressed Concrete etc.,
PO2 PROBLEM ANALYSIS Internship on Prestressed Precast Girders could help
in in analysing the problem and providing solution
to the field problems like, cooling of concrete during
mass concreting due to rise in temperature, which
otherwise increase shrinkage of concrete.

PO3 DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT The concept of load on the structures, estimation of

OF SOLUTIONS loads, providing appropriate solution to the filed
requirement were explained during the internship.
PO4 CONDUCT The application of NDT instruments for
INVESTIGATIONS OF investigation of strength of precast segments and its
COMPLEX PROBLEMS quality assessment was also explained at the site
with hands-on practices
PO5 MODERN TOOL USAGE At office of BMRCL analysis of Precast Girder
segment for various loads were demonstrated using
ETABS as Modern Tool.
Even the Pre-stressing instruments like mono-jacks
and multi-jacks are used based on hydraulic concept.
Bar bending is also done using the instruments.
PO6 THE ENGINEER AND Importance of Metro project for the need of the
SOCIETY society is explained and the role and responsibility
of Civil Engineer to cater to the need of society was
highlighted.
PO7 ENVIROMENT AND Some of the industrial wastes like GGBS, Fly Ash,
SUSTAINABILITY Metakaolin were used for producing concrete,
addressing to the environmental and sustainability
aspects.
PO8 ETHICS Professional ethics is an integral part of any project.
At all the stages of metro project, adhering to the
codal provisions and standards is highlighted.
Various IS Code of references were also used which
include IS 1786, IS 1963, IS2502, IS456 etc.
PO9 INDIVIDUAL AND While pursuing the internship, the entire duration
TEAM WORK was spent in a group. The role of team efforts to
achieve the success of Metro project was explained
 with an illustration.
PO10 COMMUNICATION Preparation of project report, communicating
instructions at site either orally or in written
communication is most important for successful
completion of project work. How the
communications were done during project execution
is explained with an example of written
communications ledger maintained.
PO11 PROJECT Application of project management tool for effective
MANAGEMENT AND project management and financialaspect of Metro
FINANCE project was explained.
How to execute a given work, prepare financial
schedulefor the funds by both State and Central
Government was brought in.
PO12 LIFE LONG LEARNING Updating the knowledge of latest construction
technology, use of modern tools and equipments is
essential for the employees to servive in the field.
Hence, an employee /Civil Engineer is required to
upgrade his skills time to time to be successful in the
industry.
