1.Classroom Set up and
Organization
Cubbies-
Each Student will each have their own
hook in a cubby, however they may need
to share a cubby with a partner. A name
tag will be placed on each child’s side of
the cubby indicating which spot is theirs.
Student’s backpack, lunch, winter clothes,
and boots will be placed here to keep
our class organized.

Attendance/lunch Choice-
Near the door a chart will be set up
that says good morning, hot lunch,
and cold lunch on it. There will also
be clothespins stuck to the good
morning portion and students will
clip their pin on their choice if they
are not there the clothes pin will be
left on the good morning spot so I
know who is absent
3
Turn in Trays-
On my desk I will have 2 or 3
stackable trays. One tray will be
where students can turn in their
homework or anything else I
sent home. Another tray will be
where notes from home or per-
mission slips may go.
Rules Poster-
In the front of the room I will
have a rules poster that students
will help me to create during the
first couple of weeks and we will
refer to those rules throughout the
school year.
Daily Schedule-
At the front of the classroom on the board I will
have a Daily Schedule where students will be able to
see what we are doing that day. They will see what
time lunch is, snack, recess, specials, and other sub-
jects. 4
Morning and End of day Procedures-
On each students desks or table spot they will have a
checklist of the morning and end of day procedures.
This will have pictures and words
of what they need to do. This
will be dry erase so students can
check things off. There will also
be a big poster of this in the
room for them to reference.

Seating-
Students will each have an assigned seat
to call their own and they will be placed at
table or desks set up in groups so they can all com-
municate. Flexible seating will also be available and will
rotate through the children throughout the day or be
available to those who need it. Each table group will
also be labeled with a group name so they are easy
to call on. Students will also each have a spot on
the class rug to help them with personal space. 5
Cool Down Corner-
In my room I will have a space
for an upset child to go so they
can take a break. This spot will
have a chair and a soft pillow by
it. There will also be an emotion
chart to help them think about
what they are feeling.
Classroom Jobs-
In my room I will have a spot that
displays some classroom Jobs each
week I will pick one students for
each job and will have it placed there
the whole week. This will be by the
poster of the morning routine
Student of the Week-
On one of the walls I will have a student of the week
section where I will place students pictures and infor-
mation about them that children bring in.
6
2. Routines and
Procedures
Entering the Class-
When entering the classroom
students will be greeted at
the door with one of the 4
H’s a hug, high-five, hand
shake, or hello. Students will
then go to their personal vis-
ual checklist and begin their morning routine
checklist. They will do this quickly and effi-
ciently.
Attendance and Lunch-
Students will use the chart from section 1 and will
move their clothespin to their choice of lunch for the
day and the ones left on good morning will be counted
absent. This will be on their checklist for the morning
routine.
Classroom Jobs-
Once they do their attendance/ lunch students will then
complete their classroom job for the week. I will an-
nounce the jobs on Monday and students will then
mark that they have completed their job on their check-
list. 7
Bell Work-
Once students have completed their check-
list they will do bell work. This will be
different everyday and will be an educa-
tional activity that will allow me time to
take attendance and be prepared for the day. Here is
a list of some ideas:
• Journaling • Math Problem
• Unfinished work • Riddle
• Independent reading • Grammar work

Bathroom/Drinks-
Every few hours I will give students
a bathroom break where we all go and
at least try, and wash our hands. Stu-
dents must keep bathrooms clean and
pick up any messes they make. If it
is an emergency I will allow students to go during a
lesson. If students have stomach aches I will first
send them to the bathroom to try. During breaks stu-
dents will be allowed to get drinks or during transition
times. 8
School Supplies-
Students will all bring school supplies
however, we will use it as a communi-
ty and each table will have a basket full of school
supplies that will be shared among them. We will
then rotate supplies as they are used.

Bathroom Signals-
If students need to use the bathroom dur-
ing a lesson or when it is supposed to be
quiet I would like them to hold the sign
language sign for bathroom.

Quiet Signal-
In order to quiet students down I will use a few dif-
ferent quiet signals throughout the school year and will
teach them to the students as we go.. Here are a list
of the quiet signals.
• Chimes/Shakers
• Call and response
• Clapping
9
Sharpening Pencils-
I will have a container for broken pencils to be placed
in and a container filled with sharpened pencils. If a
student has a broken pencil they
will either give the teacher a two
finger signal that they need a
pencil or will quietly get up if
the teacher is working with
someone. Sharpening the broken
pencils will be a morning job for one student.

Lining Up -
Students will be given a line order and will follow the
line order unless there is an emergency. Students will
be expected to quietly line up and hands to them-
selves. In the halls they will be allowed to wave to
their friends in the hall
but need to be quiet and
stay in line.

10
Eating/Drinking In Class-
Students will be allowed to bring a water bot-
tle to class but they must keep it in a desig-
nated spot in the classroom and may get a
drink when needed. Gum may be allowed in
class only if I feel necessary otherwise it is
not to be used in class. All other food must
be kept in backpacks until lunch or snack time.

Take Home Folder-

Each Child will be given a folder to
take home where one side is la-
beled bring back to school and one
is keep at home. Homework will be placed in the
bring back to school and newsletters will be placed in
the other.
Turning in Homework-
Students will turn their homework into the turn in
trays on my desk at the beginning of the day. They
will highlight their name and then clip their papers to
the others. 11
Labeling Assignments
Students will label all of their papers with their name
and also a number that I have assigned to them. Once
they label their paper they must highlight it.

Handing out Papers-

Each student will have a mailbox will all of their graded
homework will go. In the morning one students job
will be to put the assignments in
the mailboxes that are labeled with
student numbers. Then at the end
of the day students will collect

Collecting Papers-
After a project in class one student
will collect all of the finished ones and
place a clothespin on them and put in
the turn in tray. Those that are unfin-
ished will be placed on my desk or
another tray to finish later.
12
Transitions-
When moving from lesson to lesson we will transition
by picking up everything we used and then standing
up and doing an exercise for a few minutes and then
move to the next lesson quietly.

Independent Work-
When students are doing work on their own stu-
dents must quietly work on their own if they have a
question about the assignment students may quietly
ask a classmate a question and then continue on with
their work

Group Work-
When working in a group all stu-
dents must participate so before
they start a project each student must give an idea.
They each then must come and tell me the part they
will be doing and how they are helping.
13
Cubbies Organization-
Students will have weekly cubby checks to make sure they
are bringing home all of their papers and old clothes/ ma-
terials that they do not need. Folders will also be checked
to make sure papers have been completed and given to
parents.
Noise Level-
Students will be taught the different
levels of noise that are allowed in the
classroom and when they are needed. I
will also use an app that tries to moni-
tor the level so the kids learn to self
monitor as well. I will also use an egg shaker to warn
kids when it is time to quiet down.

Movement in the classroom-

Students will use walking
feet in the classroom unless
another form of movement
is needed for a lesson or is
used for an exercise.
14
Classroom Library-
The classroom library will be sorted by different type
of books and will be color coded so students will be
able to put the books back were they belong. At the
end of the day a student will be assigned to organ-
ize the books and keep it

Finishing Work Early-

When students finish work they will have a choice of
a few things to do such as work on homework, read
independently, write, or do an activity I have.

Quality of Work-
Students will be shown a student
sample of the expected work that I want them to
do that was done by other classes. If it is not avail-
able I expect students to try their hardest and if I
see they are not I would like them to try again.
15
Using Technology-
When using Ipads or computers students need to both
hands when caring them and wait to do anything with it
until I give directions. If one messes
around with it at all I have the right to
take away the right for the day.

Recess and Lunch-

Students need to line up quickly and
quietly when heading too and from recess and lunch.
When heading to lunch students with cold lunch will
be reminded to grab their lunch-
es and be ready for lunch.

Fire and Emergency

When there are drills students
are expected to take it serious-
ly as if it is a real emergency. Students need to quickly
and quietly follow me to where they are supposed to
be. If students are scared I will be there to comfort
them but they still need to listen and follow directions. 16
Make Up Work– Make up work will
be collected and placed in a folder that I
have and will pass out to the students the
day that they come back. Make up work will be finished
during a designated work time or at home if possible.
Should be completed within 2 weeks.

4. Consequences and
Rewards (Minor)
Practice time 2 min– If a student has been
given a few verbal warnings about the behavior and
that they may receive a consequence then they will be
told that they will have to practice doing the behavior.
They will practice the behavior during
recess or playtime. This will help
them to learn the correct behavior.

Behavior Reflections 5 min– if students

have been given many warnings and have already had to
practice the behavior multiple times
students will fill out a behavior re-
flection sheet during recess or play
time so together we can talk about
the behavior and find out what is go-
ing on. This will be sent home to let
parents know what is going on. 22
Office Referral– If a student is still not
fixing their behavior after several warnings and
practicing and reflection then the student will be
given an office referral
that will be sent home
for parents to see and
talk with their child about.

Hierarchy of Consequences (Not severe)

Warning
2 min practice
5 min writing letter
Office referral/parents
Principal/parent consequence

23
Reward Strategies

Punch Card: If behaviors continue I will try imple-

menting a punch card. The punch card is a card that I
will hold on to. It has 20 numbers around the outside
that represent students behavior so if a student is
doing good they will be given 2 punches on their card.
If they do not follow directions I will remove 2
punches but they have a chance to earn one point
back if behavior changes. Once they get all of their 20
points they will be given a reward that the student
and I have talked about.

24
Marble Jar– My whole class will be working to-
wards a reward that we have all dis-
cussed and agreed upon. To achieve
this I will have a jar that they need
to fill with marbles. IF the students
are behaving I will reward them with
a marble. However if students are
not listening or misbehaving I will
take away a marble. Once they reach
the mark students will receive their reward.

Parent Communication– Notes on behavior

will be sent home only if they need to fill out a be-
havior reflection or if there is an office referral. IF
there is positive behavior I will now send home a
note that they completed their punch card or marble
jar.
25
5. Major and Minor
Infractions
Minor Infractions-A minor Infraction is a behav-
ior that can be easily dealt with within the classroom
with a verbal warning, a conversation, or a consequence
if the behavior continues. If it repeats multiple times
it will turn into a major infraction.
• Stealing: minor items like pencils, erasers, etc.
• Inappropriate language: that only occurs 1-2 times
• Physical hurting: only occurs once and does not result
in injury.
• Defiance/Disrespect: Brief or low intensity failure to
respond to adult request. Redirection or intervention
needed
• Minor Disruption: low intensity but inappropriate
needs redirection
• Wandering: Students who wander around the class.
26
Major Infractions– A major infraction is a be-
havior that is not allowed in the classroom and will re-
sult in a student being given a consequence if this
type of behavior continues they will be sent down to
the office with a referral and the discipline will go on
from there on out. Some Major Infractions include:
• Theft: students continue to steal items multiple oc-
casions
• Inappropriate Language– That occurs multiple times.
• Physical fighting-result of aggression and results in
injury that has happened multiple times.
• Defiance/Disrespect: refusal, talking back, persistent
despite redirection.
• Major Disruption: sustained loud noises, out of seat,
and rough play after intervention.
27
• Wandering: Students who leave the classroom with-
out permission
• Bullying: causing fear, humiliation, and harm to other
students
• Self Harm: Immediately reported and counselor will
be involved.
• Weapons: Principal will be notified right away.

28
Documentation

Incident Report Form–

a form I will use to
document the specific
behavior and place in a
binder for the student
so I know specific de-
tails about the incident.
(this sheet will also be
sent home.)

Behavior Log-Each stu-

dent will also have a be-
havior log where I can
track the time, date, and
type of behavior shown.

29
Behavior Intervention
Plan (BIP)

Parents– Parents must

attend Behavior interven-
tion plan meeting or be
made aware that this is
occurring. And sign off
on it. 30
