CHAPTER FOUR

PRESENTATION, ANAYLAYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

Profile of Respondents

The first objective of the study was to determine the profile of staff universities
namely administration to achieve it, closed ended questions were asked in the
questionnaire. Frequencies and percentage distributions were used to summarize the
profile selected employees in selected Puntland Universities in terms of Gender , Age,
Educational Level , Job position , and Year of working experience these are indicated in
the bellow table 1.

Table1.1 Respondent Age

Age

The age part of Table 2 indicates that Majority (55%) of the respondents are less than
3 years of age, while 40% of the respondents are the age group 20-39, 30% of the
respondents are above 39 years of age which is in line with most African countries, 40-
59 where age between 30% , where the biggest portion of the population lies below 30
years and very few are above 60 years . This study found that the Employees or staffs
of universities in punt land were of diverse age groups.

Table 1 is for the profile of the respondents (gender, age, qualification, Job position and
work experience). Table 1 shows that 50% of the respondents were male and 50%
were female. This clearly shows that most employee’s universities in Punt land, Somalia
have same opportunity work in the institutions. The result indicates that there were
more male than female individuals working in universities in Punt land

Education

In terms of highest education qualification, results indicate that respondents in selected


universities puntland are highly educated. Majority (30%) of the respondents has
bachelor degree, 30% of respondents have diploma, while 40% of respondents have
master level and , no qualified master or candidate during investigation or study. This
resulted and indicated us the employees in the organizations are mostly educated
staffs.
Position in the Organization

In terms of job position in the organization are supervisor and majority (10%) of the
respondent are senior management position , (30%) of respondents are middle
management , (40%) are technical staff and (20%) of the employees are supervisors .

Work Experience

Finally concerning the number of years in work, results in Table 1 indicates that
majority (20%) of the respondents worked for in selected universities in puntland
between 4 to 6 years, (10.9 %) of respondents have been working 7 years and above ,
(30%) of the respondents working 1 to 3 years , and (40%) of respondents working
less than one year in selected universities in puntland.

Leadership Behavior

The second objective of this research was to determine the extent of leadership
behavior in selected universities Puntland Somalia. All questions were rated using a four
point like scale, were: 1= Strongly disagree, 2= disagree, 3= agree, 4= Strongly agree.
The self-rating of respondents were analyzed using mean indicating the extent
leadership behavior to which they recognize each indicated in Table 2.

For interpretation of responses the following numerical value and description


were followed:

Results in Table 2 show that item analysis means indicate that the level of leadership
behavior is satisfactory in terms of i) management insures that staff and stockholders
understand the overall direction of the organization (mean =1.70); ii) Org leaders
depends on the bahavoiur traits (mean =1.); iii Leadership play vital roles the org success
(mean =1.90); iv) there are R/ship between L/ship b and org appearance (mean =2.10); v)
L/ship behavoiur is very essential the organizational success (mean =1.90)
However, the overall grand average mean of the level of leadership behavior is
satisfactory (overall grand average 1.80); we can say that the level of leadership
behavior in selected universities in pun tland is relatively poor satisfactory. This
confirms that selected universities in punt land Somalia have poor satisfactory in terms
of leadership

The Third objective of this research was to determine the extent of Organizational
success in selected universities Puntland Somalia. All questions were rated using a four
point like scale, were: 1= Strongly disagree, 2= disagree, 3= agree, 4= Strongly agree.

Interpretation as you did in the leadership behavior


Relationship between leadership behavior and organizational success in
selected universities in punt land

The fourth objective of this research was to determine the relationship between
leadership behavior and organizational success in selected universities puntland , in
order to establish if there is any significant relationship between leadership behavior
and organizational effectiveness in selected universities punt land . Pearson’s Linear
Correlations Coefficient (PLCC) was used to test a null hypothesis that says there is no
significance relationship between leadership behavior and organizational effectiveness
in selected universities puntland ,Somalia as indicated Table4.

Result in Table 4 shows that there is a positive correlation between leadership


behavior and organizational success (r= Findings indicate that there is a significance
correlation between leadership behavior and organizational effectiveness in selected
universities puntland , Somalia. Basing on these results, the stated research hypothesis
is rejected, leading to a conclusion that leadership behavior and organizational
effectiveness(sig. = ) are significantly correlated at 0.05 level of significance in selected
universities puntland.
