Ecosystem Scavenger Hunt

Anna, Vivien, Cole, Jessie

Producer
For our producer we have the
cafeteria because that’s where all the
food is made and where a lot of our
organisms will feed off of.
Herbivore
For our herbivore we have a picture of
our friend John Autry; we chose John
because he is a vegan and only eats
plants.
Carnivore
For our carnivore we have
administration who are in charge of
the school and are at the top of the
food chain.
Primary Consumer
For the primary consumers we have
the sophomores and freshman of the
school who are the lowest of the
classes at school.
Secondary Consumer
We have the juniors as the secondary
consumers because they are a class
above the sophomores but not at the
top of the food chain.
Tertiary Consumer
We have the seniors as the tertiary
consumers because they are the
highest class of consumers.
Omnivore
For omnivore we have a picture of
Jessie, who eats both meat and plants
and is a secondary consumer (junior).
Decomposer
For decomposer we have a trash can
with Vivien inside of it because Vivien
was just eaten by a cougar(see
predator/prey slide) and now the
trashcan is decomposing her carcass.
Autotroph
For autotroph we have a picture of the
Foods class at school because in that
class the students make their own food
to consume.
Heterotroph
Our heterotroph is a teacher, Ms.
Mercer eating food she did not make;
she is eating food she gathered/found.
Predator and its Prey
For our predator and prey we have a
picture of a cougar eating Vivien as
the cougar is the predator and Vivien
is its prey.
Parasite and its Host
Our parasite is a calculus textbook and
its host is Anna; the calculus textbook
is negatively affecting Anna and
harming her mentally.
Two Species with Commensalism
Tutoring between students was our
example; tutoring benefits the student
who learns, and the tutor is not
particularly affected.
Mutualism
We have students and teachers as our
example of mutualism; the students
are benefitted by learning and the
teachers are paid to teach the
students.
Dominant Species
The dominant species would be the
students as a whole at the school as
they make up most of the school
population.
Invasive Species
The invasive species would be the
freshman because they are essentially
unwanted and negatively impact the
ecosystem with their immaturity.
Biotic Factor
Some biotic factors would be the
plants that are placed around the
school to provide natural life to the
school.
Abiotic Factor
The stairs throughout the school
would be an abiotic factor because
they do impact the lives of the
students and faculty but they are not
living.
