TL;DR: ideally, take a correspondence. Else, you need to have several months before the

asked, etc.. Source materials from your friends who're taking classes, or you can use the
other books mentioned above, which you'll find in stores/e-commerce sites. You MUST What is the best way to prepare for the EduHeal

a sine qua non. Do put in some thought into whatever advice you get from online 'experts',
and ask elsewhere if you're unsure.

With or w/o correspondence? Apart from providing you with the modules which are
specifically tailored for each of the subjects, you should also be getting guidance and
mentoring from that institute; at least, that's the idea since I have not availed of the same
personally.

If not, then you'll need at least a good 8-10 months till CLAT, to start with. Considering that
you're going the whole nine yards yourself (without a correspondence course), you might
have to do some amount of trial and error till you hit the right notes. So, if you're starting
now, unless you're pretty quick (and lucky) to get into the groove, I'd suggest you take a
correspondence at least.

Once that settled, you need a guide book. There are several guide books in the market but
Universal's or Lexis Nexis' seem to be the top picks. The guide books cover all the 5 subjects,
and will show you the variety and types of questions that you'll come across in the paper,
while giving you a rough outline of the paper and drawing an approximate boundary on
each of the subjects, which basically stops you from going overboard and doing more than
what's necessary.

The only downside is that there are errors here and there in the guide books (Universal's
definitely has many noticeable ones), so it's okay to take the answers with a pinch of salt.
Notwithstanding, guide books remain important because there are virtually no subject
specific books which are made for CLAT - they just more or less align with what's done in
CLAT, along with stuff that's not there in the paper. Ensure that it's the latest edition.

After that, you need the PYPs. The past years papers of the preceding five years, at least.
Luckily, most guide books come with the last five year's papers. Pick one and solve it, first
thing. Get a feel of it and check how you fared. The guide books, which are predictive of
what will be in the next paper, are drafted based on these PYPs. So, the PYPs are the real
deal. You basically get an idea of what the paper has been, and might be like, directly from
the source.

9/17/2017 What is the best way to prepare for CLAT...(2017) - Quora
It'd be great if you can source modules from your friends who are taking coaching classes.
The modules are cut out for every subject specifically and a good module is much more
reliable than Universal's (answers only). Once done with the modules and you get a hang of
the questions, then you can easily go about solving problems from the guide books.

If not, you can go through the the top-most answers on these two questions: What are some
good books for preparing for the CLAT examination? and Is it necessary to join CLAT classes
to give clat or can a good score be obtained without the classes? What are some good books
to prepare for CLAT?. I'd also throw Pearsons Concise GK Manual into the mix to start your
GK prep. Additionally, there's tonnes of free resources - on the internet and also in the
questions papers in the CiF magazine - since the subjects except LR are common to several
other entrance exams. Check out the articles on CLATapult - CLAT coaching by NLU
grads . Each topic has been boiled down and explained in a simple, lucid manner that the
authors themselves would resort to when preparing for CLAT, and designed in a way that
even a person sitting at home can get the best out of it. You can also check out the
Correspondence Course, the Test Series and the other combos.

The real spending that you'll be doing is on the mocks. Feel free to get a budget deal, but
make sure it's from a reliable institute/source and have 30 or more mocks. Preferably more.
You can also source it from your friends. These are indispensable, so whatever you want to
cut short on, it should not be on the mocks.

Finally, coming to obtaining advice online, do try to make sense of whatever you're being
told, instead of following it blindly. If you're getting it for free, the person owes you zilch. If
required, then ask another person; find an X ranker from Y college and ask - most of the
NLU people are pretty welcoming of a query or two. Find another one if you're not
convinced.

Cheers!

Hi

You need to prepare 5 sections in CLAT. You can cover them separately or purchase a bundle
through below mentioned sources.

1. English include Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Grammar

2. Reasoning: Logical & Analytical

3. GK: Static as well as Current Affairs

4. Maths: Arithmetic, Basic Algebra & Geometry (Mainly Mensuration)

5. Legal Aptitude: Indian Polity, Law of Torts, Contracts, criminal & Misc Laws.

The Best Material for CLAT is of Career Launcher's LST. It is complete with books, online
portal, daily GK updates and mocks tests.

You can also go for AP Bharadwaj's books on CLAT. The Universal's book and Lexis-Nexis is
decent.

For GK you can refer to

General Knowledge Today - GK & Current Affairs for IAS, UPSC, PCS, IBPS & SSC Exams -
General Knowledge Today or

General Knowledge, GK, Current Affairs

For Video lectures of different Topics (Legal Aptitude, Maths, English & Logical Reasoning)
and topic wise questions for practise can be accessed at EduSaathi's website for free.

So, having all the material ready, you need to have a strategy to get a good rank in CLAT. you
can refer to my answer at What should be the strategy for solving CLAT paper? Which
section should be solved first? to start with a general strategy.

Thanks for the A2A.

There's another way to prepare, still without joining a physical coaching class - you can
consider joining an online course for CLAT, like the one we provide. Details here - Online

The benefit over a book is that you have high-quality video lectures for every topic and the
advantage of guided study. Further, we conduct regular live doubt sessions to  answer
student queries.
