Opening Statements:

Hello my name is Travis and I live in the suburbs of Suisun City. I’m 17 and have been to a the

gun range on multiple occasions with both friends and family. I have also been to the bow range

of Pena Adobe. I see guns as being powerful but do not see them as something to be feared but

rather as something to be respected.

Hello, I’m Daniel and I live in Fairfield California and I am 17. I have also shot guns on multiple

occasions with friends and family. Guns are very powerful weapons and can be used to cause

incredible damage but if used in a safe and respectful way they can be used for many things

that are not dangerous.

Major Premises 1: More regulation is a hindrance to the 2nd amendment.

Minor Premise 1: Based off what is stated in the second amendment, putting too much

regulation on guns takes away from your God given rights.

Minor Premise 2: The current system has issues that need to be fixed. We acknowledge flaws,

but as with every system it will have issues.

Minor Premise 3: If these issues are addressed and the system is changed then that should be

the only changes made.

Major Premises 2: More gun restrictions punish law abiding citizens and will not restrict

criminals.
Minor Premise 1: Many people owning guns is a major deterrent. With more gun owners, people

would be more fearful of committing crimes. And for people that are insane, guns would work as

a last resort to prevent the loss of major amounts of life.

Minor Premise 2: Owning guns is a right only to be taken away for very specific reasons.

Reasons include insanity or other forms of being unstable.

Minor Premise 3: Criminals will find ways outside the law to obtain guns. Self explanatory.

Lawful gun owners commit less than a fifth of all gun crimes. We found this in an article by

Washington post.

Major Premises 3: Making less people own guns will not lower crime rates significantly.

Minor Premise 1: Criminals will find ways outside the law to obtain guns.

Minor Premise 2: By banning guns or extremely restricting them things will only get worse.

In(Chicago) the decade after it outlawed handguns, murders jumped by 41 percent,

compared with an 18 percent rise in the entire United States. This is according to the

Chicago Tribune.

Minor Premise 3: States with more people owning guns have less gun problems

Conclusion:

Based off what we have said throughout this debate my partner and I believe that we have

displayed the necessary information to cause you all to understand that making more gun

restrictions will not solve any of the gun issues that we currently have. We believe that

recreating the registration process there is the possibility of reducing gun crimes but adding

more restrictions to law abiding citizens will not.
