JANUARY 22ND IS THE 45TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROE V. WADE, the Supreme Court decision which legalized
abortion in our land in 1973. This day is to be observed as a day of penance for violations to the dignity of the human
person committed through acts of abortion, and of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life.
Please refer to the Ordo for the liturgy of this day. This anniversary challenges us to continue our prayer and efforts to
promote a greater respect for human life and legal protection for the most innocent and vulnerable in our midst, unborn
children. Special appreciation to Deacon Scott Watford, Diocesan Respect Life Office Coordinator for planning this annual
Diocesan March for Life trip to Washington, D.C.

Some directives/clarifications regarding the celebration of Mass

The rubrics for the penitential rite do not call for a sign of the cross during the absolution. This was intentionally removed
when the ordinary form of the Mass was approved. If some of the lay faithful mistakenly sign themselves during the
minor absolution prayer, it should not be because of poor example from the celebrant or deacon.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF COMMUNION- Just a note to the Eucharistic Ministers; when you are finished
distributing the wine, please place the cup back on the altar and not on the side table. The priest will have to clean it first
and then you clean it afterwards you used to do.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO HELP WITH BINGO at Dawson Place on the 4th Mondays of the month. Please
contact Eileen Riemann at 421-2556 if you would be willing to help.

Altar Society Meeting: The Feb. meeting of the Altar Society will be the 1st Monday of Feb. on the 5th at 7:00 p.m. We
will be electing officers for the 2018 year. Yearly dues can also be paid at that time. All ladies of the parish are
encouraged to attend.
