Dear Friend,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ! It is such
a blessing to know His name and that He knows our name! The Scripture
teaches, "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners..."
(Ephesians 2:19). A foreigner or stranger in Bible days was someone who lived
in a place without the right of citizenship. It is only through Christ Jesus and all
He did for us that we can know of a surety that we belong. Jesus not only made
peace for us, but He is the peace that passes all understanding!
Because we belong to Him, God, who is Spirit, brings us into a spiritual
realm. He feeds us spiritually at church through the Word of God, He satisfies
our thirst for Him, He watches over us, He meets our needs, but He also protects
us. These are the benefits of our heavenly citizenship through Christ Jesus!
Things may come against our walk with Him, but the Bible says, "Greater is
He that is in you, than he that is in the world" (I John 4:4). The One who
overcame everything this life threw at Him dwells in each heart that invites Him
in.
Sometimes we think because we have an affliction or a problem that we
are not good enough to have the Lord minister to us. Many times we think the
Lord would have little to do with someone who isn't "perfect." But this is not
true! He loves us, whether we have a problem or not. One day, the Lord went to
the synagogue, and while He was there teaching, He saw a woman there that
had an infirmity for 18 years. She could not lift herself up, but was bowed
together. Sometimes physical, emotional, financial, or spiritual problems tend to
make us stoop over and are too difficult to stand upright. Does Jesus care? Oh
yes, He cares! His heart is touched by our need! When the Lord saw her, He said
to her, "Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity." And the Bible said that
he laid His hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified
God (Luke 13:10-16).
What a wonderful thing took place. 18 years she was bowed over and with
one touch of the Master's hand she could now straighten up. She immediately
praised God for his healing touch. But as human nature would have it, someone
was very displeased. For whatever the reason, the ruler of the synagogue
thought the Lord stepped out of line by ministering to her on the Sabbath day. In
other words, He broke the rules. But the Lord answered him, and said, "Thou
hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his ass
from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman,
being a daughter of Abraham, whom satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen
years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?" The Lord is not limited
to a flawed interpretation of the Bible. We may be, but He can overstep all
misunderstandings to meet the needs of sons and daughters of faith. Our
position in the family of God, the citizenship of heaven, gives us spiritual legal
rights to claim the blessings of God during times of need. Through all He did on
Calvary, the Lord Jesus can fix what is wrong, He can straighten out what is
crooked, He can raise up every low place in our lives, and lower every high and
haughty look from others who hinder our walk with God. It is not what others
do or don't do, what others say or don't say that matters to the child of God. It is
what the Bible says about our lives. He has the final word!
One of the most encouraging verse of Scriptures was spoken after Moses
died and Joshua was about to take over the leadership of Israel. God had a man
to step into those very large sandals Moses wore for over 40 years. In Joshua
1:9, the Lord said to Joshua, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of
a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy
God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Wherever life takes you, no
matter what happens, whether in gain or in loss, the Lord said He would be with
you wherever you go! As He was with others, so He will be with you! That is
our confidence in life. I have a friend who cares for me and He cares for you. I
can cast every care upon the Lord Jesus, because the Bible says He cares for us.
Today, whatever you are facing, do not be afraid or dismayed, but put your trust
in Jesus Christ, for He will bring you through every time!
From our church in Torrington, we wish you the best and pray the Lord
strengthens you more abundantly, now and in the days to come! May God bless
you!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
