Directed Writing

Lesson Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to expand at least three ideas from
the given points.

Success Criteria Activities

I will be successful if I can elaborate at least three Teacher input:
main points.
- -Teacher provides students with a set of
directed writing question.

- Teacher assigns 3 points to a group of 5

students

- Students elaborate the main points given

(using the 4 square writing model)

I will be successful if I can use at least three 4 Square Writing Model:

connecting words to construct sentences.
- -Students will be exposed to the use of the
4 square writing model.

- -Students are taught on how to use

connecting words to construct sentences
on the 4 square writing model.

- Students together with teacher try using

the modal with sample topics.

I will be successful if I can transfer the ideas into a Paragraphing:

complete paragraph.
- One of the group is randomly picked

- Students together with teacher transfer the

ideas into a proper paragraph form.

- Students write the paragraph on the

whiteboard.

- Other groups follow the initial method to

transfer their ideas into paragraphs and
write it on a mahjong paper.

- Their paragraphs are displayed for a

gallery walk.

- Students are briefed a littleabout

connecting words and explained that usage
of it will be practised from the next lesson.

- Students are refreshed with the objective of

the day.
- Students recap how their ideas were
expanded.
