Goals

- Students will explore experimental methods while creating “Australian Aboriginal Dot Art”

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

-Colored construction paper 8x10


-Larger colored paper
-Qutips
-Tempera Paint
-Australian animal silhouettes hand outs
PREPARATION AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS

-Students will have to be shown examples


-Some students may finish early- they may complete a large piece as a group
-After that they are to catch up on unfinished work or work on their social books

INTRODUCTION Time Assessment

-Have students settle in their desks after recess


-Give sound level expectation
-Explain that we are going to do our own Aboriginal dot art
today
-Break down the process into steps
-Watch short video 15 min

-Point out the animal silhouette page and tell them to pick their
favourite and to practice drawing it in their desk books
-When they feel like they are ready they are to grab a small
piece of colored construction paper and draw it on there and cut
it out

BODY Time Assessment


-Have students pick up a piece of white paper to put on their
desk as well as their larger piece of colored construction paper

-Hand out qutips for groups of two

-Pour small dots of paint for students on the side of the white
paper

-Give students time to complete their art

-Focus on bright colors and lots of dots

-Once finished students an work on a large piece as a group at


the back table 30 mins
CONCLUSION Time Assessment

-Clean up begins at 3:10

-Have students put the art in their catch up bins

-Have the students throw away the bottom piece of paper and
wash their hands

-Ensure that end of day jobs are complete

-Have students collect their agendas etc


-If there is time remaining play silent ball
