● He was an Indian born scientist who
played an important part in discovery
of quantum theory.
● Bhabha belongs to a wealthy parsi
family of West india. Got his doctrate
from university of Cambridge in 1934.
● He worked with Neil Bohr and Walter
Heitter.
● He makes a breakthrough in understanding of cascade theory
of electron showers and cosmic radiations.
● Bhabha started his research centre in india at Banglore in
1940.
● Bhabha was the first chairperson of atomic energy commission
in 1948.
● In his guidance, scientists of india made their first atomic
bomb and an atomic reactor at Trombay near Bombay in 1956.
● Bhabha got many awards from indian as well as foreign
universities and he was an associate of National Academy of
Sciences (US). Bhabha was killed in an air crash accident on 24
Jan 1966 in Swittzerland. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre
(BARC); Bombay is named in honour of Dr. Homi Jahangir
Bhabha.
