Chapter I

Problem and its Setting

Introduction

Foundation Celebration is significance since it is the chance to remind the

students and teachers about the humble beginnings of their educational

institution in which it will help to enhance the physical, mental and physiological

abilities of an individual. As Grade-12 students the researchers experienced

some difficulties in handling the said event due to the various factors such as

redundant activities, moreover non-participative students, as resulted in partial

failure of celebrating foundation day.

Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School is one of public school

experienced a complicated activity design in celebrating foundation day. The said

school commemorates foundation in decades in which activities are same as in

the past few years.

Lacanilao (2007) further define activity design as a process in which the

outcome is the specification of the design object. The goals, environment,

primitives, requirements and the inputs to the design process; however, often

knowledge of these may emerge or change during the process. Nevertheless,

the design process must begin with some notion of the object’s intended

environment, the type of object to design and intentionality – by this we simply

mean that design cannot be accidental. Finally, if the type of design object

changes significantly (e.g. from a software system to a policy manual), the


existing design effort is no longer meaningful and a new design effort begins. The

possibility of changing information is related to the possibility that the design

process involves exploration. It also implies that the design may evolve as more

information is acquired.

Based on the researchers experience the reason why the school activity

design is complicated is due to the non-participative students, moreover to the

redundant activities. In addition, only the participants of the said events are in the

venue.

With the above mentioned scenario and situations the main objective of

the researchers is to determine the common reason of non-participative students

in foundation day moreover to know the level of students’ satisfaction on the

activities. Therefore the research findings on that objective become the basis in

proposing activity design for the event effectiveness.

The purpose of this study is to find out the level of students’ satisfaction on

the activities during 2017 foundation day celebration, furthermore it will be a

great help to formulate what activity design is needed in celebrating foundation

day.

Statement of the Problem

The study aims to propose activity design for foundation celebration in

Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School specifically it will seek to answer the

following questions:
1. What are the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1 Grade-Level

1.2 Gender

1.3 Affiliation

Participant Facilitator Non-participant

2. What is the level of satisfaction of students’ on the following activities

2.1 Parade/Opening Program

2.2 Musical Contest

2.3 Literary Contest

2.4 Search for Mr. and Ms. BPAHS

3. What activity design can be proposed for the celebration of the foundation

in Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School?

4. Is there a significant differences between the demographic profile and the

level of satisfaction of students’?

Hypothesis

There are no significant differences between the demographic profile of

the respondents’ and the level of satisfaction of students’.


Scope and Delimitation

This study will be concerned with the activity design of Bondoc Peninsula

Agricultural High School in which the students’ experienced failure of activities as

encountered by the students’ of grade-7, grade-8, grade-9, and grade 10 under

junior high school and grade-11 as well as grade-12 under senior high school are

the respondents of the study. Furthermore students’ from other school are not

included due to the fact that they are not belonging to the students’ of the said

school.

This study aims to propose an activity design that will lessen the non-

participative students moreover to the partial failure of activities that they

experience. It will assume that the capabilities of celebrating foundation day will

fulfill those problems as experienced by senior high school classroom officer of

Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School.

Significance of the Study

The findings of the study will be a great help for them to familiarized what

is needed in celebrating foundation day moreover it enable to find how students’

satisfaction can affect the level of their basis in participation during foundation

day. In addition it will be deemed important to the following:


To the Students, the result of this study will help for the learners to

become more participative moreover to avoid that dullness as they had

experienced. In addition it also helps for them to be aware in giving their ideas

and suggestions about the activity design in commemorating foundation day.

To the Supreme Student Government Organization, the result of this

study will be a great help for them in program planning in celebrating foundation

day. It serves as an inspiration for them to become a good leader and to strive

more to the problems that they encountered.

To other Schools, the result of this study will serve as the basis in

creating an activity design to avoid such problem. It also helps for the innovation

of activities that the foundation day have.

To the Teachers, the result of this study will serve as their basis about

what kind of activity did they approve to maintain the camaraderie of every

students moreover to identify and assess their selves if they are a good

educators in facing those problems.

To the Administrators, the result of this study will serve as their bases in

approving propose activity design as held by the SSGO. It also a great helps for

them to know what problems the event have moreover to suggest a good

activities that will suited for the students.


Definition of Terms

For better understanding of some terms used in the study the following

terms are conceptually or operationally defined.

Founding Anniversary - it is a celebration of school foundation in which a partial

failure encountered by the students’ by means of its activities.

Junior High School Students’- a set of learners that deal with the preparatory

education for senior high school level and serve as the respondents’ of the

study.

Level of Students Satisfaction- is the evaluation of the respondents’ on the

activities that is being done during 2017 foundation celebration.

Propose Activity Design – is an activity proposal that is needed in complicated

activity design in school foundation celebration for the betterness of the

school event.

Senior High School Students’- a set of learners that deal with the preparatory

education for tertiary level and serve as the respondents’ of the study.

SSGO – (Supreme Student Government Organization) a school organization that

deal with the involvement in the school activities specifically the foundation

day celebration.
