A Beg from a Beggar

By: 9-Piety

Narrator: It was a typical morning in the house of the Buenavista’s.

Amor’s parents were preparing for a flight to Paris. Nothing
really changed because Amor is already used in being alone
without them.

Amor’s Mom: We’re now going to the business trip we’ve told you before. Be
good and don’t do anything stupid. I’m warning you!

Amor’s Dad: Take care of the company while we’re gone, understand?

Amor: The hell I care. You’re always not here! I don’t even feel that you’re my
parents after all!

Amor’s Mom: You ungrateful brat! (slaps Amor) We didn’t raise you up like
that!

Amor: Yes, you’re right! Because you’re not even the one who raised me! You
always leave me alone with those maids!

Amor’s Mom: I don’t know you anymore, are you even my daughter?

Narrator: They left together feeling disappointed and drove off.

Amor’s Dad: Calm down, dear. Everything’s going to be alright.

Amor’s Mom: Am I not enough? Are we not enough? What did we do that made
her feel bad? All I want was the best for her, but why? Why?

Amor’s Dad: Don’t you worry. It will end soon.

----(Goblin OST)----

Narrator: And then there was a loud crash! ---(SOUND FX)---

Amor’s Mom: (shocked) What did you do?

Amor’s Dad: (stutters) I t-think I h-hit s-someone. Let’s get out of here!

Amor’s Mom: No! Let’s help her!

Amor’s Dad: I’ll take care of this. Let’s just go!

Narrator: They went away leaving the woman lying on the floor.

Claudia: Mother… mother… Where are you? Mother…? Mother!

Narrator: Claudia runs towards her mother and weep her heart out.

Claudia’s mother: Take care of yourself, my daughter. I will always be by your

side. I love you…

Narrator: Her mother slowly closed her eyes until her last breath.

Claudia: Please don’t leave me! No! No, mother! (shouts)

----(SOUND FX)----

Narrator: Meanwhile, Amor is scolding her maids for her lost bag.

Amor: Hey! The two of you! Come here! Where did you put my favorite bag? It’s
way too expensive and even if you sell yourselves, you can’t afford it!

Maid 1: We put it in your closet while we were cleaning your room, Madame.

Amor: Didn’t I tell you to not touch any of my belongings while cleaning?

Maid 2: We’re really sorry, Madame! It won’t happen again.

Amor: Yes. It won’t happen again because the two of you are fired!

Maid 1: Please don’t do this, Madame.

Maid 2: We’re begging you! (kneels) We’ll do anything!

Narrator: The maid pleaded.

Amor: Then, kiss my foot! Do it!

Narrator: The maid was about to do what Amor said but suddenly, her
fellow maid stopped her.

Maid 1: Don’t do it! We don’t deserve this! We are people! Not animals!

Narrator: The two maids left crying.

Amor: Whatever! It’s not my loss. (rolls eyes)

----(DRAMA FX)----
Narrator: Amor is on her way to work with his butler and driver.

----(CAR FX)----

Amor: Can’t you drive any faster? You’re too slow, literally!

Driver: I’m sorry, Madame. But there is a speed limit in this area.

Amor: Do I look like I care? Just drive! I’m paying you enough and you can’t do
your job properly!

Driver: I’m really sorry, Madame.

Narrator: After a few minutes, they finally arrived.

Amor: We’re here? Finally! That was a long ride and it was boring.

----(CAR DOOR FX)----

Narrator: The driver drove away hurt by what she said.

Amor: My name is Amor. I am a powerful businesswoman and the heiress of

the late family race of Buenavista, the most influential business
company worldwide. No one can defeat me and losing is not in
vocabulary.

----(FIERCE BG)----

Narrator: As Amor enters the company, she is greeted by the janitor, a

simple employee who is respectful and kind.

Janitor: Good morning, Madame!

Narrator: He greeted.

Amor: This will be the last time you would say good morning to me, ‘cause
you’re fired! Your life would be better if you got a better job, that’s your
own fault because you are a dull and uneducated person.

Narrator: She mocked.

Janitor: But why Madame? What did I do to anger you?

Narrator: The janitor wondered.

Amor: Can’t you see? The floor is very dirty! I want you to get out of my sight!
Right now!

----(DRAMA BG)----

Edward: Amor, stop this at once. It’s too early for you to get mad.

Amor: Edward! You’re here.

Edward: I would like to ask if you’re busy.

Amor: I’m not why?

Edward: Would like to have dinner with me?

Amor: Of course!

Narrator: Amor and Edward went out the office and saw a beggar begging.

----(SAD BG)----

Claudia: Alms… alms… Spare me a piece of bread… I’m hungry! I’m really
hungry!

Narrator: The beggar begs.

Amor: (rolls eyes) Get out of here! You ugly monster! You don’t belong in this
place! Shoo! Shoo! Shoo! Go away!
Edward: Amor, please don’t be too harsh on her. Here take the food.

Narrator: Edward takes out a sandwich from his bag and gives it to the
beggar.

Claudia: Thank you….

Narrator: After the beggar received the sandwich, Edward got a call from
one of his business partners.

Edward: Excuse me, I have to take this.

----(CALL FX)----

Narrator: As Edward left to answer the call, Amor looked at the beggar in
disgust.

Amor: You think he likes you, don’t you? Hmph! He was only doing that out of
pity! He would never like someone like you, you ugly freak!
Narrator: Claudia was so ashamed to the people around her. She ran away
and ran into a grotto.

Claudia: I wish that woman who insulted me will learn her lesson.

Narrator: As the time comes, Amor had a big problem.

Worker 1: Guys, I can’t take this anymore!

Worker 2: Yes, I’ve had enough of her!

Worker 3: What do we do though? She’s a powerful person.

Worker 4: Guys, I have an idea!

Worker 5: I’ll file a resignation.

Worker 6: Me too!

All other workers: Me too!

Worker 1: I guess it’s final now.

Narrator: The angered employees went to Amor’s office.

Amor: What do you want?

Worker 1: We decided to resign before you fire us!

Amor: Do you think I care? There are hundreds of people out there eager to
work for me. You resigning won’t change a thing!

Worker 2: Do you think they’ll last a day or a week working for you?

Worker 3: You may be rich and influential, but we know who you really are. A
time will come and you’ll rot in hell!

Amor: (fake laughs) Real funny, you pathetic idiots! Get out of my sight.

Narrator: After the employees left the office, Edward entered and asked
about what happened.

Edward: What happened there?

Amor: Oh nothing, they just complained about their jobs and quit, there is
nothing to worry about.

Edward: How could you say that? They were doing their responsibilities right!
Amor: I don’t give a damn! They were just slowing me down.

Edward: You know, I don’t like your attitude, Amor. You’re just as bad as they
said. This, this is over.

Amor: What are you…

Edward: We’re done, Goodbye.

Amor: Y-you can’t leave me!

Narrator: Edward leaves the office and Amor devastated. Amor felt
depressed after the events of their breakup, she was so
depressed that she was unable to care for her company, thus
resulting to its downfall. Meanwhile, as Claudia was walking
down the park, she found a twenty-peso bill lying on the
ground.

Claudia: This must be my lucky day! But what should I do with this? ...Ah! I
know!
----(INSPIRATIONAL BG)----

Narrator: She went to a lotto outlet near her and bet the money.

Lotto vendor: Here’s your copy, don’t lose it.

Narrator: The next day, on a windy morning, Claudia was walking along
the park when a piece of newspaper flew pass her. She took it
and read. She saw the grand lotto results and to her amazement.

Claudia: Oh my! I won! I won fifty million pesos!

Narrator: Then, she used the money she won to buy the company of Amor
and took everything Amor once had. A few years have passed…

----(woosh woosh rain sounds)----

Amor: Agh, I need food and shelter. Someone help me!

Narrator: Then, a strange woman appears and covers her with an umbrella.

Strange Woman (Claudia): Come with me, I’ll help you.

Amor: Thank you…

Narrator: Moreover, she recognized the strange woman, it was the beggar
whom Amor had insulted before.
Amor: You? Are you the beggar before?

Claudia: Yes. I’m glad you still remembered me.

Amor: But why do you still help me? After all I’ve done to you…

Claudia: Because I know how it feels to be a beggar.

Narrator: She cried and apologized to Claudia.

----(SAD BGM)----

Amor: I’m sorry. I’m sorry for all the rude things I have done to you. I’m really
sorry Claudia.

Claudia: Don’t be sorry. I’m glad that my wish came true.

Narrator: Amor changed into a better person. They became the best
friends and business partners. Together, they learned a lesson
from each other that they’ll treasure forever.

----(HAPPY BGM)----
