I believe that a teacher’s primary role in the classroom is to not only be a
facilitator of knowledge, but to be a nurturing individual who develops strong

relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. A strong teacher is one who is able

to manage a classroom efficiently and effectively, cares for the students’ best interests

and acts as a role model for students and staff. The main purpose of education is to

create a safe and nurturing learning environment to facilitate all different learning

styles. Education helps students grow in this world,

Communication, Relationships & Inclusion

Teacher – student interactions are important in developing strong relationships

with my students that is positive and encouraging. My hope is that students will feel

comfortable and open with me. Communication is key to get students excited about

their learning. My aim as an Educator is to help students make connections from the

classroom to their life experiences and to

communication. Everything I teach is meant

to be meaningful, valuable and useful to all students to help them learn more about

themselves and the world. I believe in inclusion for my students and providing the best

education that fits for each individual and what they need to succeed. Material will be

presented in different ways so students can learn it in

different styles to deepen their knowledge.

development. To me, it’s important to set up the classroom community in such a way so

that social interaction can take place to build relationships and create a sense of place

within the classroom. Students will have the best classroom experience if they can see

both the teacher and their classmates. This will make group interactions easier and less

intimidating for shy students. My intention is to have an area such as a carpeted space

for reading, stretching, or if the students just need a little break.

I think both formative and summative assessment are important. Formative helps

students (and parents) know where they are at and acts as the building blocks to get to

an end goal for each student. I would create summative assessments as a “celebration”

of their learning which represents how much they have grown over a period of time.

Bullying

Bullying won’t be tolerated in my classroom. I will make sure to put forward very

clear class rules at the beginning of the school year to ensure students understand what

bullying is the negative impacts. These rules will be reinforced regularly to help students

remember to show kindness to others. It’s

concerns or questions regarding their child’s education. Anything that could potentially

be in the way of a child’s education could have serious implications so it is important

that it is addressed as soon as possible.

Teaching is like a garden of flowers. Flowers bloom and grow at

different rates and are nurtured by their surroundings. Teachers are the water that provides

that nourishment to students. Teachers are like the sun which helps children grow and

become the best they can be. Teachers provide just the right environment for their 'flowers'

to bloom and be successful. The garden represents the school which fosters students to

learn in a safe, nurturing and thriving place.
