Financial
TUITION AND FEES: The tuition and fees for your program are included in the Tuition and Fees Supplement located at http://www.kaplanuniversity.
edu/paying-school/tuition-reduction.aspx. Students who take courses offered by other schools within the University may be charged a different tuition
rate than that for their program of study. The tuition per credit hour/term is subject to change. Tuition and fees are subject to change after 30 days’
advance notice. This amount does not include costs incurred due to program changes or repeated classes, fundamental courses, or multiple concentra-
tions/population focus areas. Students outside the United States or U.S. Territories will be responsible for the cost and the shipment of instructional
materials including returns and payment of customs duties or fees.
REFUNDS: Refer to the Refund Policy section of this Enrollment Agreement for details.
DROPPING COURSES: Provided students remain enrolled in their program, they may drop a course prior to or during the first 7 calendar days of the course
without any financial obligation. Students who drop a course beyond the first 7 calendar days will incur 100 percent financial responsibility for the course.
KAPLAN PAYMENT PLAN: The Kaplan Payment Plan requires monthly payments. The terms and conditions of your Kaplan Payment Plan are
contained in your Kaplan Payment Plan Promissory Note. The Kaplan Payment Plan Promissory Note will be provided by the Financial Aid Office. The
amount financed may change depending on the amount of federal financial assistance you actually receive. If the actual amount is less than expected, we
will increase the amount financed to cover the gap and provide you with a revised Truth in Lending Disclosure Statement. You agree to pay the actual
amount financed pursuant to the terms of the Kaplan Payment Plan Agreement and revised Truth in Lending Disclosure.
BILLING STATEMENTS: Students receive monthly billing statements in hard copy and/or electronic format.
PROOF OF HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION: Kaplan University requires students to attest to proof of graduation from high school or its
equivalent. If selected for verification, students must provide official proof of graduation within 30 days; if Kaplan University is required to obtain
this proof on your behalf, there will be a $10.00 nonrefundable fee charged to your account. If the University previously received official proof of
high school graduation, the student will not be selected for verification as a returning student.
TENNESSEE STUDENTS: Tennessee residents are required to produce an official high school transcript or GED certificate by the last day of the first
term. If proof is not submitted by the last day of the first term, the student will be withdrawn from the University and blocked from reentry until it is
provided. Furthermore, all Title IV financial aid or any state or institution funding must be refunded to the appropriate source, and the student will be
responsible for payment of these funds to the original source or to Kaplan University.
Proof of Prior Degree
Students enrolled in a program for which a prior degree is required must furnish an official transcript indicating receipt of a comparable degree from a
college or university accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education by the last day of the first
term. Prior to enrollment, students enrolled in a graduate program, unless otherwise noted, must submit an unofficial transcript indicating receipt of a
bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
In some cases, a student’s graduate degree may also be acceptable. By the last day of the first term, students must provide the University with an official
copy of the transcript. If this document is not submitted by the last day of the first term, the student will be withdrawn from the University and blocked
from reentry and the student’s academic credentials will be withheld. All conditions of enrollment must be met prior to any Title IV aid being originated
or paid.
For CCAF Requirements and GEM Program Participants
Certain courses offered by Kaplan University are available to approved GEM Program participants. Upon successful completion of a course, the GEM
Program participant can transfer coursework for which a grade of “C” or better was received toward a degree at the Community College of the Air
Force if the course for which the student is seeking to transfer credits earned is part of the Kaplan University-approved GEM Program course offer-
ings. GEM Program participants are under no obligation to enroll at Kaplan University upon completion. Participants wishing to enroll at Kaplan
University must complete a new Enrollment Agreement, which will supersede this Agreement. In addition, students may also take additional courses
to meet CCAF requirements.
International Applicants
International applicants may be subject to further requirements. International applicants should consult the International Applicants policy within the
Admissions Information section of the University Catalog, as well as program-specific requirements.

Refund Policy
Applicants who are:
• dismissed as a result of failing to meet the minimum entrance assessment score or to meet any other condition of enrollment or admittance required
for the program of study; or
• undergraduate students who choose to withdraw by the end of week 3 of the first term (within Kaplan Commitment trial period);
shall be entitled to a refund of all monies paid, with the exception of the nonrefundable application fee.
EMPLOYER ALLIANCE: Students who are enrolling through an employer alliance agreement should contact their employer for Refund Policy details.
CANCELLATION OF ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT: Three-Day Cancellation—An applicant who provides written notice of cancellation within
three days (excluding Saturday, Sunday, and federal and state holidays) of signing an enrollment agreement is entitled to a refund of all monies paid.
Campus students who have not visited Kaplan University prior to enrollment will have the opportunity to withdraw without penalty within 3 business
days either following attendance at a regularly scheduled orientation or following a tour of the University facility and an inspection of the equipment.
After the 3-business day period, the University will retain the application fee. No later than 45 days of receiving the notice of cancellation, the school
shall provide the 100 percent refund (less application fee).
INDIANA RESIDENTS – Six-Day Cancellation—An applicant who provides written notice of cancellation within six days (excluding
Saturday, Sunday, and federal and state holidays) of signing an enrollment agreement is entitled to a refund of all monies paid. No later than
30 days of receiving the notice of cancellation, the school shall provide the 100 percent refund.
WISCONSIN RESIDENTS – You may cancel your Enrollment Agreement without any penalty or obligation by completing and signing the
“Notice of Cancellation” form (attached to this Agreement) or by submitting any other written notice or by sending a telegram. You must
deliver your completed and signed “Notice of Cancellation” form or other notice of cancellation to the University management by midnight
of the third business day after signing the Enrollment Agreement, excluding Saturday, Sunday, and federal and state holidays. All refunds for
cancelling the Enrollment Agreement will be made within 10 business days after the University receives the notice of cancellation.
DROPPING COURSES: Provided students remain enrolled in their program, they may drop a course prior to or during the first 7 calendar days of the
course without any financial obligation. Students who drop a course beyond the first 7 calendar days will incur 100 percent financial responsibility for the
course. If you are enrolled in an ExcelTrack program, dropping a course beyond the first 7 calendar days is not permitted.
NOTICE TO STUDENTS
Return of Title IV Financial Aid: If you withdraw from the University up through the 60% point in any payment period and received federal financial
aid in the form of grant or loan funds, federal law requires that the University, and in some cases, you, the student, return funds you did not earn to the
U.S. Department of Education. A determination of the percentage of the payment period or term the student has completed used to calculate the amount
of Title IV financial aid the student has earned will be based on the number of days the student completed up to the last date of academic attendance (or,
in the case of ExcelTrack programs, the date of the last assessment attempted, or any other academic activity), divided by the total days in the payment
period or term. (Any break of 5 days or more is not counted as part of the days in the term.)
A. To determine the amount of aid to be returned, subtract the percentage of aid earned from 100 percent of the aid that could be disbursed and multiply
it by the total amount of aid that could have been disbursed during the payment period or term as of the date you withdrew. Funds are returned to the
appropriate federal program based on the percentage of unearned aid using the following formula: Up through the 60% point in each payment period,
a pro rata schedule is used to determine the amount of Title IV funds you have earned at the time of withdrawal. After the 60% point in the payment
period, you have earned 100% of the Title IV funds you were scheduled to receive during the period. This calculation concerning federal financial aid
is separate and distinct from the institutional refund policy and may result in your owing additional funds to the University to cover tuition charges
previously paid by federal financial aid prior to your withdrawal. If you earned more aid than was disbursed to you, the institution would owe you a
postwithdrawal disbursement, which must be paid within 180 days of your withdrawal.
B. If you plan to withdraw from the University, you should contact the Financial Aid Office or Business/Bursar’s Office to determine the amount of funds
that must be returned on your behalf, if applicable. All refunds due will be made within 45 days of your effective withdrawal date. The last date of actual
attendance is used in calculating any refund amount. For ExcelTrack programs, the date of the last assessment attempted, or any other academic activity,
is used. Refunds are allocated in the following order:
1. Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loan
2. Subsidized Federal Stafford Loan
3. Federal Perkins Loan
4. Federal Parent (FPLUS) Loan
5. Federal Pell Grant
6. Federal Supplement Educational Opportunity Grant
7. Other Title IV assistance
8. Other state funds (unless otherwise mandated by the state)

Return of Unearned Tuition Assistance: Military Tuition Assistance (TA) is awarded under the assumption that you will attend school for the entire
period for which the assistance is awarded.
If you withdraw or are dismissed, you may no longer be eligible for the full amount of TA funds originally awarded. The University will return any
unearned TA funds on a proportional basis through at least the 60 percent point of the period for which the funds were provided, with unearned funds
returned based upon your last date of attendance (LDA).
If you stop attending due to a military service obligation, and notify the University of that obligation, the University will work with you to identify
solutions that will not result in a debt balance for the returned portion.
Calculation: When you officially withdraw or are dismissed from a course, the LDA will be used as the date of withdrawal.
Failure to start a course or attend a course for 21 consecutive calendar days (not including breaks; 14 calendar days for 6-week terms) is considered an
“unofficial” withdrawal. In this case, the University will determine the LDA by reviewing the last date of activity within a course: for online courses,
the LDA is the last date a student made a contribution to the class or submitted an assignment. For onsite courses, the University will reach out to the
professor to determine the LDA.
Once LDA has been determined, the University will recalculate your TA eligibility based on the following formula:
Number of days completed (___) = % earned/total days in the term.
Return of Funds: Determining eligibility for TA is course specific. The start and end dates will be used for each course to determine eligibility. Using the
formula above, the University will be required to return some or all of the TA awarded to you if you did not complete at least 60% of each course, possibly
creating a debt balance on your Kaplan University ledger.
WITHDRAWAL FROM UNIVERSITY AFTER COMMENCEMENT OF CLASSES: The effective withdrawal date for a student shall be when any of
the following occur:
1. The date the student notifies the University of withdrawal or the date of withdrawal, whichever is earlier,
2. The beginning date of any term in which a student fails to start classes,
3. The last date of attendance following any 21 consecutive calendar days of absences (not including breaks; 14 days for students enrolled in
6-week terms; or, in the case of ExcelTrack programs, the date of the last assessment attempted, or any other academic activity),
4. The last date of attendance (or, in the case of ExcelTrack programs, the date of the last assessment attempted, or any other academic activity) prior to
the date when the University terminates the student’s enrollment, or
5. The date that the student is scheduled to return from a leave of absence and fails to do so.
New Mexico Residents: On the student’s request, Kaplan University will provide, within 5 business days, an estimated accounting of any amounts
retained, and will provide a final accounting following the Department of Education’s determination regarding any federal financial aid disbursed.
All refunds due will be made within 45 days of the student’s effective withdrawal date. The last date of actual participation (or, in the case of ExcelTrack
programs, the date of the last assessment attempted, or any other academic activity) is used in calculating any refund amount.
A term is considered completed if a student receives a letter grade for any class and no tuition refund will be granted (see Iowa Residents Tuition Refund
for exception details).
If you begin a term, you are entitled to a prorated refund of tuition paid, up to the time 50% of the academic term has lapsed. Thus, if you withdraw from or
are dismissed by the University any time after commencing instruction, but prior to 50% of the academic term, you will receive a prorated refund.
Note: if you are participating in the Kaplan Commitment and elect to continue beyond the first 3 weeks, you are responsible for the full tuition amount
for that term.

program, if the student enrolled in the institution, prepaid tuition, and suffered an economic loss.
Unless relieved of the obligation to do so, you must pay the state-imposed assessment for the Fund STRF, or it must be paid on your behalf, if you are a
student in an educational program, who is a California resident, or are enrolled in a residency program, and prepay all or part of your tuition.

You are not eligible for protection from the STRF and you are not required to pay the STRF assessment if you are not a California resident, or are not
enrolled in a residency program.
It is important that you keep copies of your enrollment agreement, financial aid documents, receipts, or any other information that documents the
amount paid to the school. Questions regarding the STRF may be directed to the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education, 2535 Capitol Oaks Drive,
Suite 400, Sacramento, CA 95833, (916) 431-6959 or (888) 370-7589.
To be eligible for STRF, you must be a California resident or enrolled in a residency program, prepaid tuition, paid or deemed to have paid the STRF
assessment, and suffered an economic loss as a result of any of the following:
1. The institution, a location of the institution, or an educational program offered by the institution was closed or discontinued, and you did not choose
to participate in a teach-out plan approved by the Bureau or did not complete a chosen teach-out plan approved by the Bureau.
2. You were enrolled at an institution or a location of the institution within the 120 day period before the closure of the institution or location of the
institution, or were enrolled in an educational program within the 120 day period before the program was discontinued.
3. You were enrolled at an institution or a location of the institution more than 120 days before the closure of the institution or location of the
institution, in an educational program offered by the institution as to which the Bureau determined there was a significant decline in the quality or
value of the program more than 120 days before closure.
4. The institution has been ordered to pay a refund by the Bureau but has failed to do so.
5. The institution has failed to pay or reimburse loan proceeds under a federal student loan program as required by law, or has failed to pay or reimburse
proceeds received by the institution in excess of tuition and other costs.
6. You have been awarded restitution, a refund, or other monetary award by an arbitrator or court, based on a violation of this chapter by an institution
or representative of an institution, but have been unable to collect the award from the institution.
7. You sought legal counsel that resulted in the cancellation of one or more of your student loans and have an invoice for services rendered and evidence
of the cancellation of the student loan or loans.
To qualify for STRF reimbursement, the application must be received within four (4) years from the date of the action or event that made the student
eligible for recovery from STRF.
8. A student whose loan is revived by a loan holder or debt collector after a period of non-collection may, at any time, file a written application for
recovery from STRF for the debt that would have otherwise been eligible for recovery. If it has been more than four (4) years since the action or
event that made the student eligible, the student must have filed a written application for recovery within the original four (4) year period, unless
the period has been extended by another act of law.
However; no claim can be paid to any student without a social security number or a taxpayer identification number.
Holder in Due Course Statement
Any holder of this consumer credit contract is subject to all claims and defenses which the debtor could assert against the seller of goods or services obtained
pursuant hereto or with the proceeds, hereof. Recovery hereunder by the debtor shall not exceed amounts paid by the debtor (FTC Rule effective 5-14-76).

Arbitration Agreement and Waiver of Jury Trial

1. Kaplan and you agree to arbitrate all disputes, controversies, and claims between us. This arbitration agreement is a part of your Enrollment
Agreement.
2. Kaplan and you agree to arbitrate all claims arising out of or relating to any aspect of the relationship between us, whether based in contract, tort,
statute, fraud, misrepresentation, or any other legal theory, including, without limitation:
(A)(i) claims relating to the Enrollment Agreement; (ii) claims relating to your enrollment, attendance, and/or education at Kaplan; (iii)
claims relating to financial aid and/or career service assistance provided by Kaplan; and (iv) any claim by either party, no matter how
described, pleaded, or styled, relating, in any manner, to any act or omission regarding your relationship with Kaplan, its employees, or with
externship sites or their employees;
(B) claims that arose before this or any prior Enrollment Agreement (including, but not limited to, claims relating to advertising or other
solicitations to enroll at Kaplan);
(C) claims that are currently the subject of purported class action litigation in which you are not a member of a certified class; and
(D) any objection to arbitrability or the existence, scope, validity, construction, or enforceability of this arbitration agreement.
For purposes of this agreement, references to “Kaplan” include its subsidiaries, affiliates, agents, employees, predecessors in interest, successors, and
assigns.
3. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may bring an individual (not class) action in small claims court. This arbitration agreement does not
preclude you from bringing issues to the attention of federal, state, or local agencies, including, for example, the Federal Trade Commission. Such
agencies can, if the law allows, seek relief against us on your behalf. YOU AGREE THAT, BY ENTERING INTO THIS AGREEMENT, YOU
AND KAPLAN EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION.
4. The parties acknowledge that this Agreement evidences a transaction involving interstate commerce. Accordingly, this Agreement will be governed
by and construed by federal law to the fullest extent possible, exclusive of its choice of law rules. To the extent there is no federal substantive law
applicable to the dispute, the parties agree that the laws of the state of Illinois will apply, exclusive of its choice of law rules. Notwithstanding the
provision in this paragraph with respect to applicable substantive law, any arbitration conducted pursuant to the terms of this arbitration agreement
will be governed by the Federal Arbitration Act (9 U.S.C. §§ 1-16) (“FAA”). All issues relating to the enforcement of this arbitration agreement and
the arbitrability of claims will be determined pursuant to the substantive and procedural provisions of the FAA. The arbitrator, and not any federal,
state, or local court or agency, will have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, scope, enforceability
or formation, and/or effect of this arbitration agreement, including, but not limited to, any claim that all or any part of this arbitration agreement is
void or voidable. This arbitration agreement will survive termination of the Enrollment Agreement.
5. Any arbitration will be administered by Judicial Arbitration & Mediation Services (“JAMS”) and governed by JAMS’ Streamlined Arbitration Rules
and Procedures or, if applicable, JAMS’ Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures, and any applicable supplemental rules issued by JAMS
and in effect at the time the arbitration is filed, including, if applicable, JAMS’ Consumer Arbitration Standards of Minimum Fairness. The JAMS
rules are available online at http://www.jamsadr.com/rules-clauses/, by calling JAMS at 8003525267, from a local JAMS office, or by writing to the
Notice Address.
6. A party who intends to seek arbitration must first send to the other, by certified mail, a written Notice of Dispute (“Notice”). The Notice to Kaplan
regarding any arbitration claims should be addressed to: Kaplan Higher Education, Attention: Office of the General Counsel, 550 West Van Buren
Street, 2nd Floor, Chicago, Illinois 60607 (“Notice Address”). The Notice must (a) describe the nature and basis of the claim or dispute; and (b) set
forth the specific relief sought (“Demand”). You may download or copy a form Notice and a form to initiate arbitration at:
http://www.jamsadr.com/files/Uploads/Documents/JAMS_Arbitration_Demand.doc.
7. Unless Kaplan and you agree otherwise, any arbitration hearings will take place in the county (or parish) of your mailing or residence address,
whichever you prefer, provided that JAMS has an office in that county (or parish). If JAMS does not have an office in that county (or parish), the
arbitration will take place at a JAMS location in the closest county (or parish) to the one in which you reside. If your claim is for $10,000 or less,
we agree that you may choose whether the arbitration will be conducted solely on the basis of documents submitted to the arbitrator, through
a telephonic hearing, or by an in-person hearing as established by the JAMS rules. If your claim exceeds $10,000, the right to a hearing will be
determined by the JAMS rules.
8. Initiating an arbitration requires payment of a filing fee. Currently, that filing fee is $250, and is approximately equivalent to current court filing fees;
but the amount of the fee is subject to change by JAMS. Generally, the filing fee is the only fee you will be required to pay to JAMS in connection
with the arbitration: all other costs of administering the arbitration will be paid by Kaplan, including any remaining JAMS Case Management Fees
and all professional fees for the arbitrator’s services; however, if you initiate an arbitration in which you seek more than $75,000 in damages, the
payment of these fees will be governed by JAMS Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures without reference to its Consumer Arbitration
Standards of Minimum Fairness. If Kaplan initiates an arbitration, Kaplan will pay all costs associated with the arbitration.

1 of 2
REV BIND ARB 05/2017
9. Except as otherwise provided for in Paragraph 8 above, Kaplan will pay all JAMS filing, administration, and arbitrator fees for any arbitration
initiated in accordance with the notice requirements above. If, however, the arbitrator finds that either the substance of or relief sought in your
claim is frivolous or brought for an improper purpose (as determined by the standards set forth in Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11(b)), then the
payment of all such fees will be governed by applicable JAMS rules. In such case, you agree to reimburse Kaplan for all monies previously disbursed
by it that are otherwise your obligation to pay under the JAMS rules.
10. YOU AND KAPLAN AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL
CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
Further, unless both you and Kaplan agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims, and may not otherwise
preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding.
11. The arbitrator is bound by the terms of this arbitration agreement. The arbitrator may award declaratory or injunctive relief only in favor of the
individual party seeking relief, and only to the extent necessary to provide relief warranted by that party’s individual claim. The arbitrator has
the authority to award monetary damages and may grant any non-monetary remedy or relief available under applicable law, but has no authority
to award damages, remedies, or relief that would not be available under applicable law. The arbitrator has no authority to award attorneys’ fees
except as expressly provided by the Enrollment Agreement or authorized by law or the JAMS rules. The arbitrator is not permitted to commit
errors of law, and any arbitration award may be vacated or corrected on appeal to a court of competent jurisdiction based on any such errors
of law. Regardless of the manner in which the arbitration is conducted, the arbitrator will issue a reasoned written decision sufficient to explain
the essential findings and conclusions on which the award is based. Any court having competent jurisdiction may enter judgment on any award
rendered by the arbitrator.
12. We agree that either party has the option to appeal any award rendered by the arbitrator, by filing an appeal with JAMS’ Appellate Panel, and that
any such appeal will be governed by JAMS’ Optional Appellate Panel Procedures. The rules regarding the Optional Appellate Procedures may be
found at this link: http://www.jamsadr.com/rules-optional-appeal-procedure/.
13. If any part of this arbitration agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that specific part will be severed, but the remainder of this
arbitration agreement will continue in full force and effect. Any or all of the limitations set forth in this arbitration agreement may be specifically
waived by the party against whom the claim is asserted. Such waiver shall not waive or affect any other portion of this arbitration agreement. This
arbitration agreement is an integrated document and supersedes any other written or verbal agreements as to its subject matter. This arbitration
agreement is to be broadly construed in favor of arbitration and will survive the termination of your relationship with Kaplan.

AGREEMENT
I have read and understand the information contained in this arbitration agreement.

Permission to Register
After completion of your enrollment, the Education Advising department will work with you to complete your course registration. You may choose to
provide your Education Advisor permission to register you for courses on your behalf. This is a great option if you are an active student with limited
time available to meet with your Education Advisor.
If you are attending Kaplan University as a first-term student, have submitted transcripts, or are enrolled in certain Kaplan University programs you
may require counseling with an Education Advisor prior to course registration. In these instances an Education Advisor will contact you to discuss
course options and sequencing.
You may be registered for up to three terms in advance and will receive a confirmation of registration via email from your Education Advisor. Should
you decide to change your course registration, please contact your Education Advisor for assistance. You may also be eligible to change your course
registration via the self-registration tool located in KU Campus.
