II. COURSE TITLE: Risk Management and Seminars on Entrepreneurship

III. PRE-REQUISITE: None

IV. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The subject exposes students to the various factors that contribute to the success or failure of
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) including the role of risk management to the actual
production process of the business. Recent trends in entrepreneurship and management of
different type of businesses are included in the course which are to be discussed through
seminars hosted by the students themselves. Case writing workshops and company visits intend
to have students see points to particular interest and motivate them to embark on
entrepreneurship.

VI. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the course, the students are expected to:


1. Identify the internal and external factors which contribute to the success or failure of
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs);
2. Discuss the importance of government agencies and institutions that assists MSMEs to
become successful;
3. Establish a positive culture in controlling risks not only in business but also to everyday
activities.
4. Explain the concepts and trends which can contribute to the success of Filipino
entrepreneurs;
5. Write a case study of a chosen successful MSME with the application of the concepts
learned in various courses; and
6. Develop the values of faith, zeal and community.
