Opera in HD returns to Salem theater

“The Met: Live in HD”
will begin its second sea-
son in Salem with a new
production of “Das Rhein-
gold” conducted by James
Levine on Oct. 9.
The Regal Santiam Sta-
dium 11 theater’s partici-
pation was confirmed by
Michelle Portillo, PR man-
ager for NCM Fathom,
which broadcasts the live
performances to movie the-
aters and other venues
across the United States.
Tickets went on sale to
the general public Tuesday
at www.fathomevents.com.

the Oktoberfest Kick-Off Party.
The $15 admission gets you a barbecue chicken dinner from
the Gervais Knights of Columbus, which, objectively, is the
best chicken in the history of the world.
There will be beer and wine available for sale, and the S-
Bahn, a German festival band from Canada, will provide the
music,

around Mt. Angel. It will kick off at 7 p.m. in the Biergarten,

• f/Stop Fitzgerald’s Public House will celebrate its
one-year anniversary tonight and Saturday. Yes, that is a full
365 days of being Salem’s favorite (and only) underground
pub.
Tonight, Namaste Vineyards will pour tastes from 6 to
8 p.m., with the Celtic-themed Bold Riley band
performing at 8 p.m.
Saturday, Cascade Lakes Brewery will pour tastes
and sell pints from 7 to 9 p.m.; there are also
rumors of an appearance by Salem’s Smallest
Circus.
The events are free, but only for those 21
and older. The pub will open at

Theatre this Saturday.
Gladstone brought the
