Ties.

Size: 61 cm x 91 cm
Medium: Image Manipulation (Photoshop/ Paint Tool Sai)
September 2016
This piece was to express how hard it is to forget past events that wish to be forgotten
and expressing it in a way with a retro type of style. Almost like an advertisement but
without any text. Having inspiration from several digital artists, like Man Ray, I
incorporated hands in some way to give a restricted tone and mood as well as using the
change in vibrancy to give a sensation of gaudiness.

Drudge.
Size: 30.5 cm x 23 cm
Medium: Linoleum / Relief Ink
October 2016
The purpose of this piece was to express exhaust and a worn-out way of life. I
incorporated my own style into German expressionism to easier show the message
within the piece. Inspired by Kollwitz, I used minimal details to make the viewer feel
tired or a feeling of remorse for the person in this piece for having a dull, monotonous
job and life. Overall, this piece was made to represent all people who are going through
a stressful part of their life including myself.

Frayed.
Size: 18cm x 13c,
Medium: Dry point
October 2016
This piece was created with a similar message as my block print. In this piece I wanted
to create a sensation of desperation and anguish, like Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’.
The difference between Munch’s art and my own is that instead of having an abstract
style, I decided to have it be a bit more realistic to really enhance and give a clear
expression of these emotions.

Indifference.
Size: 3ft x 3ft
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
November 2016
I created this piece to put myself in a feminist's shoes. I used Beckmann's straight face
to incorporate the emotion of indifference to say, 'I will do what I like.' This is a reference
to the change in female fashion during the Women's Rights movement and their
participation in WWII. I used Beckmann's style of painting because I thought it was the
best way to show a cold expression.

'We Need a Pencil'

Size: 76cm x 92cm
Medium: Writing Utensils and Drywall
March 2017
This piece was meant to remind me of past childhood memories and show my
appreciation for writing utensils. Many of the pencils and pens in this piece were found
in school as well as my own home. I used many different writing utensils to remind
myself that no matter the situation at school or home, if I needed to write something
down, I used what was available to me at the time.

Week, Month, Year.

Size: 61cm x 91.5cm
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
January 2017
This piece is to represent the flow of time, how it flows and the attempt to grasp onto it.
This painting is supposed to give the viewer the feeling of being lost in thought while
time continues and as time goes by the ability to realize it diminishes. The technique
and style were inspired by Monet and Graffam which helped create a realistic yet
sketchy texture. Overall, this piece was to show my appreciation of time over, well, time.

E.
Size: 19cm x 6cm x 16cm
Medium: Clay
March 2017
This piece was meant to show that nature and industry have common ideas. Other
than revisiting clay and reviewing techniques, I used it as an opportunity to explore
different tools. I wanted to show that there aren’t only differences between plants and
machine. I was inspired by Edouard Martinet craftsmanship and ability to pay
attention to detail. The amount of detail he added made it seem as if the sculpture
was about to jump and I wanted to do something similar.

Santa Cruz Port

Size: 51 cm x 40 cm
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Date: July 17, 2017
This piece was made to accurately show what the port looked like at night the tourist
and the bright orange and blue lights. My goal was to create a clear contrast of the
lights in the night and how they looked when they reflected on the water and people. I
used Monet's technique of using light brush strokes in order to create the reflections in
the water and avoided adding intense detail on the people because they weren't the
main focus.

Melt.
Size: 61cm x 76cm
Medium: Digital Image
Date: November 2017
The goal of this piece was to create a visual representation of what a person feels like
when having a moment of relief in the place people can think and disregard time.
Inspired by Dali, I used melting to represent the passing of time and the riddance of
stress. Similarly, to Alifan, I used a restricted color palette to create a warm atmosphere
but still avoid intense colors.

Listen Twice as Much as You Speak.

Size: 27.5cm x 35cm, 30cm x 40.5cm
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Date: September 2017
The purpose of this piece is to express people's ability to voice their opinions yet have a
tough time listening to others and what they have to say. This stemmed from the idea of
the society over sensitive in certain situation causing an overreaction from different
sides. It is inspired by Van Dongen's messages and over exaggeration of facial features
in women as well as Manguin's color pallet and technique of using broad lines to
accentuate curves or certain features.

Candy.
Size: 111.5 cm x 81 cm
Medium: Acrylic glass, Packaging Tape, Candy Wrappers
Date: October 2017
This piece was made to portray the message of obsession and addiction in society, but
mainly seen in cities since they tend to be the most densely populated. It has aspects
of Warhol's pop art as well as Max Zorn's techniques to make efficient use of space,
lights and shade. Combining various parts from both artist, I wanted to spread a
message of how everyone is and can be obsessed and or addicted to something.
