The matrix converter is a converter which uses a set of controlled bidirectional switches as the main

power elements to provide a variable frequency AC output voltage. This topology does not need any DC-
link capacitor as the energy storage element [1]
This converter has two different topologies: direct and indirect structures. This investigation uses an indirect
matrix converter which consists of a rectifier as the input stage and an inverter as the output stage [7]

many different schemes have been developed for control and modulation of the matrix converters. The review
of these methods are presented in [8-9]

Over the recent years, themodel predictive control (MPC) has received many attentions [10-14].
