Historical Games (angie)

For the first time in history, the Olympic Games will be held in a South American country. The
Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro will host the XXXI edition from August 5 to 21. For 17 days,
10,500 athletes from 206 countries will leave their souls to win an Olympic medal in one of
the 306 events. Behind each of them there are four years of training and sacrifices with the
sole purpose of enjoying a unique moment.
The logotype (angie)
People and nature are the protagonists. On the one hand, the logo represents three figures
holding hands that symbolize unity and the desire to work together, to join forces and
share. On the other hand, their colors also have meaning. The yellow symbolizes the sun
that usually bathes Rio de Janeiro, the blue water of the sea and the lakes and the green
forests.
Swimming (Ana)
Swimming is one of the traditional disciplines of the modern Olympic Games, carried out
since the inaugural edition in Athens 1896. Originally, the swimming tests were carried out
in the sea or an artificial lake. In 1908 the tests were carried out in swimming pool. In 1924
the rails were incorporated, as well as the Olympic length of 50 meters.

Its purpose is to reduce the resistance to advance and prevent hair from bothering. To do
this, it must adapt to the shape of the swimmer's head, so it can not be manufactured from
rigid materials. The surface of the same one must be flat, even if it has seams, and it can
not take any type of attachment. In addition, it can not be an integral part of the swimsuit in
the form of a hood.
Glasses (Ana)
They must be independent and in no case be part of the hat. These allow to see under the
water and avoid splashes to control the direction of the race. They also avoid eye irritation
caused by chlorine from swimming pools or sea salt and, in some cases, protect against
UVA rays.The offer in the market is very broad but they are usually made of polycarbonate
and silicone.
Swimsuits (angie)
It is only allowed to be made of textile materials. In the case of men, the garment may not
extend above the navel or below the knee. In the case of women, it will not cover the neck,
nor extend above the shoulders or below the knee. Women's swimsuits, moreover, may not
include zippers, hooks, or other similar opening and closing systems.
THE RULES

The pool
The competition pool, also called "olympic", is 50 meters long and 25 meters wide, following
the FINA standard. The surface is distributed in eight lanes or lanes of 2.5 meters, plus two
smaller size -0.2 meters- at the ends, in order to reduce the waves. (ana)

In addition to the referee judge (in black in the illustration), there are 16 turn checkers (dark
blue), which have two chief inspectors (orange), two start judges (yellow), 4 style

Poyete of exit (ANA)


Between 0.5 m. and 0.75 m. On the surface of the water, they are covered with non-slip
material. They have a handle for the espaldistas.
Arrival panel
They are activated with a gentle touch of the hand. They are placed 0.30 m. above and
0.60 m. Below the water.

Pennants (ANGIE)
Indicate the turn or the arrival in the back tests. They are placed at 5 m. of the wall.
Corcheras
Its color varies from the last 5 m. to indicate to the swimmers the proximity of the wall. In
addition, absorb the waves.

Free (ANA)
The swimmer moves by alternate movements of feet and arms. It propels underwater and
recovers on the surface. It is turned two or three meters from the wall.

Butterfly (ANGIE)
The swimmer moves the arms simultaneously and rotationally, entering and exiting the
water. To turn, touch the wall with your hands, submerge and take momentum with your feet
on the wall.

Back (ANA)
The swimmer performs rotational and alternative movements of the arms. To turn, sink the
head, lift both legs out of the water and take momentum in the wall.

Fathom (ANGIE)
The swimmer opens and closes arms and legs symmetrically and simultaneously without
completely sinking the head. To turn, touch the wall with your hands together and push
yourself.
