I. DATA ANALYSIS

The Municipal Health Office has two (2) health stations; the main health center (MCH) located at Brgy. San Antonio and one (1)
Barangay Health Station (BHS) located at Brgy. Astorga. Each health station covers four (4) barangays. It is manned by one (1) doctor, one (1)
nurse, one (1) midwife and one (1) sanitary inspector and based on standards, is considered adequate to serve its constituents except for the
midwife and the budget has always been deficient.

Aside from medical consultations, both health stations offer services relative to programs mandated by the Department of Health (DOH)
which are primarily preventive in nature; such as, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN), Expanded Program on
Immunization (EPI), Control of Acute Respiratory Infections (CARI), Control of Diarrheal Diseases (CDD) Family Planning (FP), Promotion of
Healthy Lifestyle, etc. In addition, the main health center is a birthing facility. These services and facilities are accessible to all the constituents.
Epidemics have not occurred in the last ten (10) years.

The top leading causes of mortality are; pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis, and cerebro-vascular accidents followed by vehicular
accidents, diabetes mellitus, cancer, wounds, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and seizure disorders. It is interesting to note that non-
communicable diseases or lifestyle-related disease are among those on top of the leading causes of death. The top leading cause of morbidity has
always been acute respiratory infections which could be directly and indirectly related to the sanitation condition of the municipality. The rest of
the cases are diarrheas and lifestyle related diseases.

The municipality has one (1) burial ground. In as much as it also caters to the neighboring barangays of the other municipalities, it is
presently somewhat congested.

Garbage are collected in the poblacion area only and disposed to a controlled dumpsite. But waste segregation is not yet being
implemented. The rest of the barangays are practicing composting and burning. Some are still disposing their garbage into the rivers. There is no
system as to wastewater management, only 85% of the households have sanitary toilets.

II. CURRENT PROJECTED NEEDS AND REQUIREMENTS

At present, there is a need to implement the proper waste segregation and disposal; a system should be adopted to address wastewater
management and policies should be put in place to efficiently and effectively manage the burial ground. In the near future, there will be a
need for one (1) midwife so as to adequately address the health needs of the municipality.
