This letter is coming from one little town where time stood still.

It's been like

this for the past 15 years. Surrounded by large sheltering guardians
of granite covered by wide and forever green hills, it creates a perfect symbioses
where the forrest and people breathe as one.
Bosanski Petrovac is exceedingly small town in western Bosnia and Herzegovina,
our winters are very long here, very long and very monotonous.
But we don't complain about it, we're shielded against the winter.
Oh, spring does come eventually, and summer, and they last for
a while, but now, looking back, spring and summer seem too short, as if they
were not much more than a couple of days, and even on those days,
no matter how lovely the day, it still snows occasionally. It might just be my
own personal feeling and perception, since the number of homes who are
turning into gray and empity houses are slowly, but surely,
increasing year after year, it's just like those big gigantic scary clouds that
are moving toward little sunny village at the end of the world, with the idea
of bringing darkness and cold upon its citizens.
It's very sad and for me, as a dentist with almost 30 years of experience in this
job, rather discouraging to see the ones who fought for this country, for this
town--to
leave just like that, easily, just like that, without turning or looking back.

Nevertheless, it's important to note that this is also one of the rarest places
in our country, where the mixture of people with different nationalities live
toghether
in peace and harmony--this is exactly how I imagine friendship in its physical
form,
and I know you would, too, if only you'd spent couple of days here.
It's very pleasing to see Bosniaks (Muslims) having developed healthy relationship
with Serbs (Orthodox Christianity), even though the history between these two
opposite
religions and nationalities isn't colored in happy and joyful colors.
Our history is (or was) painted dark red, filled with unnumbered deaths of
innocent victims on both sides.. This devastating war brought nothing but the
devision between these three countries (B&H, Serbia and Croatia), causing hatred
and
aversion between people. I, personally, am proud that I live in such a place
where these humans managed to leave all those differences behind and create an
amazing
land full of love and mutual respect. It's very hard to convert these thoughts into

words, I hope I succeeded in illustrating the picture of my little town where

nothing
ever happens.

The reason I'm writting this letter is nothing more than a simple urge to do so. In

order to keep balance and harmony of this pleasant little town and its amazing and
humble people with their ordinary and simple lives, I need to give them the proper
health care. My (financial) resources are limited to the lowest number; we are in
huge need of one hospital vehicle and one dental chair. We have 4 hospital vans,
but
they are old--to that high degree that you could easily sell it in antiques store
in just
couple of years, they are literally in the decomposition process.
People here are in desperate need of these things, and so is our
Medical center "Bosanski Petrovac". Without Your help and donation we won't be able
to perform the basic medical actions such as: dental care and urgent transport
of patients. This transportation mostly takes place outside this town (from here to
the
next nearest bigger city or even outside of this Unsko-Sanski Canton), so we need
slightly better vehicle, although we would be extremely grateful and appreciative
of
anything you're willing to donate.

Citizens of this little town (including me) are hoping and wishing You'll have
empathy, sympathy and compassion, yes, all of that perfectly blended together
to create one positive outcome to this negative situation.

I am forever grateful that You took your time to read this letter.
