Precaution for Handling the Printer

------------------------------------------
- For LBP5100, make sure that no paper is loaded in the manual feed slot when turning
the power ON. If the power is turned ON when any paper is loaded in the manual feed
slot, this may result in paper jams.

Precautions for Handling this Printer Driver

----------------------------------------------------
1. When the scaling is specified, an accidental error between the scaling and resolution
may cause unexpected print results such as streaks appearing on the printouts.

2. When performing booklet printing with Microsoft Excel, the setting for [Collated] is
disabled even if [Copies] is specified, and the printed pages are output in normal order.

3. When installing the printer driver in a multi-user environment, log in the computer with
an administrator account.

4. When displaying a print dialog box in a lower layer (When displaying a dialog box
from its main print dialog box), the dialog box may not appear, hidden by the dialog
box in the higher layer.

5. If printer information cannot be obtained properly when adding a printer to [Printer List]
or [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan], the printer driver does not operate properly.
In this case, delete the printer once, then add it again.

6. If more than two of the same printers are added/re-registered to the printer list or if
different
printers are added/re-registered using the same IP address, the printer may not be able to
print properly.
In this case, wait for a while before operating the printer again.

7. If you are using a printer with the [Cancel Job] key, a job that is being transmitted may
remain in the job list even after you cancel the job by pressing the [Cancel Job] key on the
printer's control panel. In this case, select the job in the printer queue window, and then
perform the [Delete] operation.
If you delete the job, however, the next job may not be printed. In this case, select the job
in
the printer queue window, and then click [Hold] -> [Resume] once.
You can display the printer queue window by double-clicking the printer you use in
[Printer List] or [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan].

8. When printing thin lines, they may look broken or disappear on the printouts.
In this case, the printout results may be improved by specifying the following settings.
- If you are using LBP9100Cdn/LBP7210Cdn/LBP7200C series/LBP7018C/LBP7010C/
LBP5300/LBP5100/LBP5050 series/LBP5000
- Set [Gradation] in the [Quality Settings] dialog box (*1) to [High 2].
- Set [B & W Halftones]/[Color Halftones] in the [Quality Settings] dialog box (*1)
to [Resolution].
- If you are using LBP6310dn/LBP6300dn/LBP6300n/LBP6200d/LBP3500/LBP3310/
LBP3300/LBP3250/LBP3000
- Change the setting for [Halftones] in the [Quality Settings] dialog box (*1).
- If you are using LBP3150/LBP3108/LBP3100/LBP3050/LBP3018/LBP3010
- Change the setting for [Halftones] in the [Quality Settings] dialog box (*1).
- Select the [Use Output Adjustment Mode] check box in the [Advanced Settings]
dialog box (*2).
(*1) To display the [Quality Settings] dialog box, click [Quality Settings] in the
[Quality] preferences pane.
(*2) To display the [Advanced Settings] dialog box, click [Finishing Details] in the
[Finishing] preferences pane, and then click [Advanced Settings] in the [Finishing
Details] dialog box.

9. When outputting a document in Adobe Illustrator format, outlines of the text specified as
black may be printed by the halftone process.

10. The home page of the HTML help does not appear by clicking [Home] of the Help
Viewer in the HTML Help.
When you want to go back to the home page, click [Main Page] in the HTML Help.

11. When you specify a custom paper size that is close to a standard paper size to print a
document, the standard paper size may be used for printing. In this case, you may need
to adjust the custom paper size slightly.

12. Using Adobe Reader 6.0.1/6.0.2 or Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0.1/6.0.2 for
printing may result in illegible characters.

13. You cannot print documents correctly using Macromedia FreeHand 10.00/
FreeHand MX11.00.
This problem does not occur if you are using FreeHand MX11.02.

14. This printer driver works under CUPS (Common Unix Printing System).
Up to 32 printers that use CUPS printer drivers can be added in the [Print & Fax]/
[Print & Scan] pane in [System Preferences].

15. Depending on the application software you use, in the application's own [Print] dialog
box,
some characters in [Paper Size] may not be displayed correctly.
In this case, specify the paper size from the [Print] dialog box of the printer driver.

16. When you install this printer driver using the installer, the amount of disk space displayed
in [Approximate disk space needed] is less than the actual amount that is needed when
installing.
Before installing, confirm that your computer has enough free disk space.

17. When using Adobe products such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe
Reader, configure the print settings using either the print dialog box of the Adobe
application you are using or the print dialog box of this product.
If you configure settings using both print dialog boxes, the document may not print
correctly.

18. When printing is performed by dragging and dropping a file onto the print queue, the
printing result may be skewed. In this case, print by being opened a file by the
application that creates the file.

19. If you are using Mac OS X version 10.7 or later, you may not be able to select the
pull-down menu for the preferences pane in the [Print] dialog box, or applications may
force-quit.
In this case, restart the application.

20. If you are using Mac OS X version 10.7 or later, when starting up the Statusmonitor
while printing, "untitled" may be displayed in [Document Name] or "unknown" may
be displayed in [User Name] in the window, there is no problem with printing.

21. If you are using Mac OS X version 10.7 or later, select the [Calibration Settings] menu
from the Statusmonitor, when you set time in the status where the [Use Periodical
Calibration Timer] check box is selected, the time may not be reflected correctly.
In this case, add the time difference from Greenwich Mean Time and set time again.

22. If you are using a color printer, when printing is performed in the state where the
printer is not connected with the interface cables, the printing results may be darker
color than the state where the printer is connected with the interface cables.

23. After updating the operating system, you may not be able to use the printer that is
installed before updating. In this case, register the print queue again after reinstalling
the printer driver.
