BACKGROUND
The letter was written by Jose Rizal at London, and sent to Marcelo H.
Del Pilar on February 22 1889 for transmittal at Malolos
Jose Rizal knows no young woman of Malolos but Emilia Tiongson, whom
Rizal met in 1887.
The “To The Young Woman of Malolos” was orginally tagalog and was
written upon the request of Marcelo H. Del Pilar to Jose Rizal.
The letter was written to recognize the 20 brave woman of malolos who
petition a night school on December 12, 1888 so they can learn spanish
under Teodoro Sandiko.
SUMMARY
Rizal showcase the 20 woman of malolos as a model to inspire, and
return the dignity and worth of every Filipina. Which Rizal Refers to all
woman like mothers , daughters, wives, and even the unmarried ones.
Rizal also showed the importance of a Filipino mother, and on how they
are to influence in molding the man of the society through the welfare
of the children and homes they will grow up to.
The letter also includes the erronous spiritual belief and control of the
friars.
