Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The Narrative Power Point is a great tool to support all learners! The
audio feature allows students to hear the words on the screen which can greatly improve ELL students. They
can also play the power point over as many times as they would like to practice the words. Students with
vision problems can print out the Power Point so they can see the words clearly and hearing-impaired
students can use headphones, so they can turn it up as loud as they need to! Also, power point is great for
visual and aesthetic learners. The narrative power point can play on any devices and students don’t have to
have access to power point to view it.

Lesson idea implementation: To start of the lesson, the instructor will lead her students in a simple
discussion about the solar system. The instructor will then play a narrated power point about our planets.
Students will view the power point three times in class and the instructor can then asked them if they can
repeat the planets back to her. Nest, the students will create a smart board for a planet of their chose and
then they will publish it online. This will allow students to create something of their own while following the
guidelines of the instructor.
The instructor can then play the power point again and ask the students to say the planets along with
him/her. This lesson will take three days to complete; one day for the introduction, one day to make a smart
board and one day to present. I will extend this project by having the students publish their work and share it
with their peers. They will also present their projects to the class. To conclude this lesson, the instructor will
play the power point over again and asks the students to recite the order of the planets together. Feedback
will be giving on their smart boards and with be communicated with the groups.

Reflective Practice: I believe this lesson plan can impact student learning by giving them the opportunity to
chose what they are learning. Students will be more engaged if they have a chose on what they are learning,
and the instructor can cover more information this way. The power point can be used as an introduction to
the lesson and the smart board could serve as the project for this unit. This lesson can be further expanded by
having the students present their projects to other classes as well. They could also make their own power
point movie on their planet and play them in the classroom. Both Narrative Power Point and Smart Board are
utilized in this lesson plan.
