Ámsterdam o Amsterdam, según la pronunciación etimológica, es la capital oficial de los Países Bajos.

La ciudad está situada entre la bahía del IJ, al norte, y a las orillas del río Amstel, al sureste. Fue fundada
en el siglo XII como un pequeño pueblo pesquero. Sin embargo, en la actualidad es la ciudad más grande
del país y un gran centro financiero y cultural de proyección internacional. Tiene una población de unos
810 000 habitantes y en su área metropolitana residen aproximadamente 1,5 millones. Cabe destacar que
Ámsterdam forma parte de la gran conurbación neerlandesa llamada Randstad, que cuenta con más de 6,5
millones de habitantes. Este núcleo es una de las conurbaciones más grandes de Europa. El centro
histórico de la ciudad fue construido en gran parte en el siglo XVII y es hoy en día uno de los centros
históricos más grandes de Europa. En aquella época se construyeron una serie de canales semicirculares
alrededor del casco antiguo ya existente de la ciudad. Después se edificaron las nuevas calles que ahora
habían sido creadas con casas y almacenes en un estilo típico neerlandés que es una de las imágenes más
famosas de Ámsterdam y del país.

Amsterdam or Amsterdam, according to the etymological pronunciation, is the official capital of the
Netherlands. The city is located between the IJ Bay, to the north, and to the banks of the river Amstel, to
the southeast. It was founded in the 12th century as a small fishing village. However, at present it is the
largest city in the country and a major financial and cultural center of international projection. It has a
population of about 810 000 inhabitants and in its metropolitan area reside approximately 1.5 million. It
should be noted that Amsterdam is part of the large Dutch conurbation called Randstad, which has more
than 6.5 million inhabitants. This nucleus is one of the largest conurbations in Europe. The historic center
of the city was largely built in the 17th century and is nowadays one of the largest historical centers in
Europe. At that time, a series of semicircular canals were built around the existing old part of the city.
Then the new streets were built which were now created with houses and warehouses in a typical Dutch
style which is one of the most famous images of Amsterdam and the country.
Como centro de la región de floricultura, Lisse también se ha promovido como una atracción turística.
Así, durante la primavera, cuando los campos alrededor de Lisse están en floración, miles de turistas

As the center of the flower-growing region, Lisse has also been promoted as a tourist attraction. Thus,
during the spring, when the fields around Lisse are flowering, thousands of tourists visit the area. The
only forest that was not cleared for the flower cultivation, Keukenhof, became ironically the most famous
place to place the important park.
