Pro and Cons about Terrorism as Jihad In Islamic Perspektif

The notion of equating terrorism with jihad is very distorted. Because the
more time faded understanding of the concept of jihad is correct and less frequently
studied in schools and colleges, especially Islamic colleges in the archipelago. This has
caused a lot of the terrorism that has sprung up lately. For example, Lately the battalion
B Brimob Ampeldento east java, malang is on alert after the arrest of some terrorist
group in tuban and lamongan. Moreover, malang and the surrounding area have a long
footage for being the terrorist hideout. Malang have a long footage with a bunch of
terrorist group. It begin with Dr Azahari, the brain of all the suicide bomb that hide and
died at an ambush in Batu 2005. In the beginning of january 2014, an ATM machine in
karangploso, malang district explode. The police thought it was done by a group of
terrorist. In march 2015, six people who is suspected to have relation with ISIS has been
arrested by Densus 88 in Malang. In january 2016, two suspected terrorist has been
arrested while hiding in a sacred tomb in Patok Picis, Wajak, Malang district. A month
later, six suspected terrorist has been arrested in karangploso, Malang district. Last, a
church in Batu had been threatened with bomb in November 2016.
Jihad is halal because the primary aim of jihad is one who died on the path
of God was a martyr or called (Shahid), their sins were remitted and they straightly
secured to enter heaven. their sins were remitted and they straightly secured to enter
heaven.
Terrorism is an act of crime against humanity and civilization that poses a
serious threat to the sovereignty of the country, the danger to security, world peace and
harms the welfare of society. Terrorism is a form of crime that is well organized,
transnational and classified as an extraordinary crime that does not discriminate against
targets. The jihad contains two meanings. First, jihad is effort and willingness to endure
difficulties in fighting and holding the enemy aggression in all its forms. Jihad in this
sense is referred to as. Second, jihad is all sincere and sincere efforts to safeguard and
elevate the religion of God.

Islam distinguishes the law of terrorism and jihad, both from the aspect of
understanding, the actions taken and the goals to be achieved. Terrorism is destructive
and anarchic. The goal is to create fear and to destroy others, which is done without
boundless rules and targets. While jihad is doing repair even if done by way of war.
Jihad aims to uphold the religion of God and defend the rights of the party in dzolimi.
Jihad is done by following the rules determined by the Shari'a with enemy targets and it
is clear.

The law of terrorism is haram, whether done by individuals, groups, or


countries. According to the word of Allah Almighty Al-Maidah verse 32-33:

"Therefore We decreed (a law) for the Children of Israel, that whoever kills
a person, not because of that person (kill) another person, or not cause
damage to the earth, it is as if he has killed all humanity. And whoever
preserves the life of a man, it is as if he has kept all human life. And indeed
indeed have they come unto them Our apostles with (bring) clear
explanations, and many of them afterwards have surely exceeded the limits
of corruption in the earth ".

"Verily, vengeance against those who fight Allah and His Messenger and
make mischief in the land, only they are killed or crucified, or cut off their
hands and feet on a reciprocal basis, or thrown out of the land (his
residence). That is an affront to them in the world, and in the Hereafter they
shall be subject to great tribulation".

While the law of jihad is obligatory, based on the word of Allah Swt Al-
Hajj letter verses 39-40:

"It is permitted (to fight) for those who are fighting, for indeed they have
been persecuted. And verily Allah, truly Almighty is helping them ".

‫َوِيٌّ عَزِيز‬‫لق‬ َ
"Those who have been driven from their homes for no good reason, save
because they say: Our Lord is God. And if Allah does not reject (ferocity)
some people with some others, would have been torn down the monasteries
of Christians, churches, synagogues of Jews and mosques, in which many
are called the name of God. Surely Allah will help those who help (religion)
Him. Verily Allah is Strong, Almighty ".

Extremism and terrorism have cost much. On the one hand, they have
created a kind of doubt about Islam and its teachings. On the other hand, their work is
killing many lives and destroying public facilities. Peace and harmonious atmosphere
will create prosperity, progress, prosperity, and happiness. While violence and chaos
will create imbalance and destruction. For this reason, Rasulullah Saw. Has blocked all
the chances and doors of possible disasters. He advocated gentleness, kindness, mutual
love and forgiveness. Aisha RA said that Rasulullah SAW bersabda:

"Verily Allah is Exalted, loves kindness and gives to politeness what is not
given to cruelty."

Compassion and friendliness is a building attitude. But cruelty and violence


create damage. Moderation are symbols of salvation, while extreme attitudes and
fanaticism are images of hatred and ferocity. Extreme (superfluous) attitude will never
bring goodness, whether it be in the world or in the afterlife. Moreover, if violence and
cruelty on behalf of religious teachings. The result will be worse than if the above the
lust of the world. Violence and malignancy arise from extreme (excessive) attitudes.
Rasulullah Saw. Said:

"Be careful of you from extremism in religion, (because) it is precisely that
attitude which has destroyed the people before you."

On the other side, there’s a dis-function of the word jihad used by terrorist
groups which called their act as jihad and claim their belief as the righteous one with
doing a violent against non. This is actually wrong, because it brought disadvantages
against the other even if it called jihad and shame of our religion for what they did. In
Al-Qur’an (Al-Hajj:78),

‫ِى هللاِ ح‬ ‫دو‬ُِ ‫َج‬
‫َاه‬ ‫و‬

“and strive in the way of Allah with the real jihad.........”.


According to mostly hadith jihad is assumed as warfare, but some of hadith
said that there’s another kind of jihad for example learn for a better future or pray for
peoples peace is the best jihad they can do. As in the hadith from Abu Hurairah, he said
that Rasulullah SAW said,

“who came to my mosque (nabawi mosque), then he came to him only for
good intention is to learn or teach knowledge there, then his position like a
mujiahid in the way of Allah. If the goal is not like that, then he is just like
someone who tries other stuff”. (HR. Ibnu Majah 227 and Ahmad 2:418,
shahih said Syaikh Al Albana)

In conclusion, we should believe what we believe, doing the right thing that
always bring advantages to the other was actually the right way to commit a jihad
because jihad wasn’t always mean to a warfare or fight against non but there’s another
way to do it without make any violent.
