2. Salary
33% of a Full-time grade 4 admin post. (Total FT hours is 1950)
Full-time grade 4 salary is €29,913
33% is €9,971 per annum

3. Duties

3.1 Attendance
The Performing Groups Manager will be available to manage the following groups at
these times:

• For 24 Saturdays during the Academic year from 8.30a.m. Until 6.30.p.m.
• 6 Spotlight weeks (Monday to Friday)
• Junior Concerts (estimated above at 9 engagements)

3.2 Ensembles
The ensembles to be managed include:

• Junior strings
• Transition strings
• Junior Wind Ensemble
• Intermediate Orchestra
• Symphonic Wind Ensemble
• Jazz Band
• RIAM Symphony Orchestra
• RIAM Philharmonia
• RIAM Opera Orchestra
• RIAM Chamber Orchestra
• RIAM Contemporary Music Ensemble
• RIAM Early Music Ensemble

3.3 Operations
In all instances, the manager will be responsible for the following;

• Act as main point of contact for student musicians and teachers


• Setting up of chairs, music stands and percussion instruments, ensuring that all
relevant music is available to orchestra members and conductors for rehearsals.
• Providing practice parts for all members of all groups.
• Keeping records of attendance and punctuality, informing and liaising with the
relevant conductor and Head of Faculty
• Advising group directors in advance of absentee students and replacing (in
consultation) where necessary.
• Being present for all outside rehearsals and engagements (estimated at 9)
• Assisting the RIAM Head of Performing Groups to ensure that all rehearsal sessions
are compliant with all Health & Safety regulations and Noise at Work guidelines

3.4 Planning and administration


The RIAM Performing groups Manager will undertaking the following
planning/administration work:

• Co-ordinating parental help and volunteers.


• Arranging sectional rehearsals, engaging tutors and ensuring that halls and rooms are
booked in advance for all rehearsals throughout the academic year.
• Assisting with preparation and circulation of rehearsal and concert schedules and
liasing with the RIAM Head of Performing Groups and the relevant conductors by
advising on pupil attendance at rehearsals and concerts.
• Liaising with concert/event personnel and promoters.
• Arranging transport for relevant group with adequate adult supervision.
• Arranging transport for equipment.
• Arranging, where applicable, meals for the student performers.
• Working with Head of Performing Groups to create orchestral schedules in liaison
with the Conductors
• Being responsible for music hire & preparation, access to practice parts and the safe
return of all material to the RIAM library
• Making travel arrangements including coach hire
• Booking rehearsal venues and liaising effectively ensuring the smooth running of all
technical aspects including get-ins/get-outs.
• Being responsible for all technical and stage management arrangements including
equipment and instrument hire, piano tuning, arranging additional insurances and co-
ordinating external stage management support when required (external provider).
• Any other duties as may reasonably be required for the smooth running of performing
Groups activities and as required by the Head of Performing Groups
