Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This lesson features a narration of the words of the story for those who cannot see well. It also features the
words for those who may not hear well. Students who need to use headphones are able to. This tool can
also be uploaded to a class blog or sent in an email for students to view as many times as they need outside of
class. This story is able to be paused, fast-forwarded, and rewound to allow students to work at their own
pace.

Lesson idea implementation:

This lesson will be covered during a physical education time. The teacher will begin by reading the story, or
playing it as a movie, to the students. The teacher will also explain that every person is different and that we
are all unique. Students will then be asked to think of one way they are different from a classmate.

After students have talked about the ways they are unique, they will be asked to make a book using
PowerPoint that tells how they are different. This book can include images of their family, traditions, and
other things that make them unique. This is a project that will cover many lessons as students are new to
PowerPoint. By the end of the project, the students will have a narrated video talking about what makes
them unique.

Reflective Practice:
This lesson can positively impact the students learning because they learn about everyone’s differences and
what makes them unique. This lesson is used to guide students through the unit of differences and by the
end will result in them having a book about them. Other technologies that could enhance this are publishing
tools that would allow for the students to publish their books.
