calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.

The graph gives information about the amount of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls
within the united kingdom. The data shows three types of calls and it was made using
data collected in a period of 7 years, from 1995 to 2002.

Overall, what stands out from the graph is that the popularity of Mobile phone calls had
a significant increased since 1995 until the last year of the survey. Whereas the local
fixed line fluctuated slightly. Commented [SP1]: Puedes acentuar esa slight
fluctuation, diciendo por ejemplo si fue hacia arriba o
hacia abajo.
Looking closely at details there is a gradual fluctuation in the local line telephone calls.,
Iin 1995 thereit were almost 75 billions , in 1999 it increased to 90 billions but during
the period from 1999 to 2002 it decreased almost 20 billions. To contrast there is an
upward trend on the popularity of national and international telephone calls, it grew
from 40 billions in 1995 to about 62 billions in 2002, also mobiles phone calls rose
rapidly from 10 billion to around 45 billions. Commented [SP2]: In the same period?Remember to
always be very specific.

Task 2

Question:

Being a celebrity – such as a famous film star or sports personality – brings

problems as well as benefits.

Do you think that being a celebrity brings more benefits or problems?

Many people believe that being famous, as a celebrity, gives you pros and constras, that
is to say, give you a little bit of everything. I agree with this point to some extent and in
this essay I will support it with some examples and reflexions on my personal beliefs. Commented [SP3]: Excelente parráfo. Ideas claras,
redacción congruente, vocabulario amplio. Has mejorado,
sigue así.
First of all being famous as a celebrity, means that your are exposed to public opinion
most of the time, which turn your private life to no more than your own housereduce to
hidden places an your own house. For example Hollywood or Bollywood actors and
actress cannot get into a pub or a bar without being noticed by someone, which means if
they get drunk or go out with someone, it will be on the news, magazines or on the
gossips channels the next day. Also people who are sports celebrities are not allow to be
mistakenmake mistakes, it means if you are a tennis player and you lost athe match,
your fans will be very disappointed and then you will have a lot of pressure, that means,
you will have to concern about everybody´s opinion about your performance. Commented [SP4]: No necesariamente. Pero si es lo
que piensas, pues está bien. Por ejemplo, muchos critican
a Messi, crees que a él le importa?
On the other hand celebrities have a lot of benefits, and their life becomes very luxurious
and easy going in terms of money and comfort. In some cases celebrities get an sponsor
and they will get a lot of goods such as food, cars, jewellery, clothes, properties and so
on, as an example it is very common that for football players to get sponsored by brands
such as Adidas, Nike and similar onessome others that sells sport elements and clothes.
Those brands will give the players massive amounts of money just for wearing their
products in public. It is common to see paparazzispaparazzi photographsy’s of
Hollywood actors wearing Diesel jeans or Michael Kors bags and watches, thatwatches is
because they get sponsored. In addition celebrities are always traveling a lot, so it is Commented [SP5]: This is redundant.
common that they get involved with many cultures all around the globe, which increases
their fame and allows them to be more influential as starts.

To sum up, although being a celebrity will give you a lot of benefits related with money
and recognition, I believe that is more important to have a private life than having the
nicest car in the market or traveling every 4 days.
