Prologue 2018

The Postgraduate Arts and Humanities Centre (PAHC) invites all research students to propose
a group activity that takes place in April – June 2018.

A prologue is an event or act that leads to another, it brings about a change. We invite
proposals that will,

• Assist the development of your research

• Contribute to the development of the research community in the Arts and Humanities
Faculty
• Assist the well-being of students.

So far, there are suggestions for,

• Reading groups
• Displays of work in progress
• Inter-cultural, social exchanges
• Research trips to cultural venues
• A writing retreat
• Skills sharing workshops

We would like to hear from you even if you don’t need funding. This is so we have an idea of
the needs and activity across the Faculty.

You will organize and run the event(s), with help, if requested, from Myna Trustram.
Contact Myna if you would like help in developing your ideas.
Send your proposals to her by 15 March (m.trustram@mmu.ac.uk).

Tell us:

1. Who is organizing the activity. (This might be one student or a group.) Your
department and year of study.
2. What do you want to do?
3. When will you do it?
4. How will it fulfill one or more of the three aims above?
5. A budget. Break this down into realistic sections e.g. travel; room hire; fee for
external contributors; materials; printing, etc. We anticipate proposals costing £100 -
£500. The amount available for each event will depend on how many proposals we
receive.
