PBL 2 Analysis:

Sustainable Transport
Antonio & Polo
1. Intro

The purpose of the project will be to theorize and trial

different skateboards and see how they can be adjusted and
improved. By analyzing the different aspects of how a
skateboards physical features can affect the user's
capabilities we had to pick which materials and designs we
would change.

Maximum Velocity: 1.2 m/s
4. Force Analysis

Fn 1078n
F g = 110 x 9.8 = 1078 n
F AR 18.2952n F n = 1078 n
F app 55n F app = 0.5 x 110 = 55 n
F fr= 1078 x 0.44 = 474.32 n
F fr 474.32n F AR = 0.5 x 1.26 x 0.6 x 0.44 x 110 = 18.2952 n
Fg 1078n
5. Energy Analysis

GPE = 110 X 9.8 X 2 = 2156 n

KE = 0.5 X 110 X 1.2^2 = 79.2 m/s
KE constant = 0.5 X 110 X 0.375^2 = 7.734375
KE max = 0.5 X 110 X 1.2^2 = 79.2 m/s
ME constant = 2156 + 7.734375 = 2163.734375
ME max = 2156 + 79.2 = 2235.2
6. Aerodynamics & Pressure Analysis
P total = P static + P Dynamic

P static = Force / Area = mg / Area

P Dynamic = 0.5 x air density x Velocity ^2

Antonio Leopoldo

P Dynamic = 0.5 x 1.2619 x 1.2^2 = 0.908568 pascals 0.5 x 1.2619 x 1.2^2 = 0.908568 pascals

P static = 0.169 x (110 x 9.8) = 182.182 pascals 0.169 x (80 x 9.8) = 132.496 pascals

P total = 182.182 + 0.908568 = 183.090568 pascals 132.496 + 0.908568 = 133.404568 pascals

11. City Council & User Guidelines

● Making specialized routes for people using bikes and skateboards.

● Wear safety gear when in use.
● Follow normal rules for driving or managing a vehicle such as driving on the
left side of the road or signaling which way you are turning to those around
you.
● Skating should share similar rules to driving cars, where you can only use
them if you’re not under certain conditions.
