* Must be purchased in conjunction with a SAN or DAS Implementation, and Dell Enterprise Services must
authorize use of this service to ensure it is appropriate for Customer's requirements.

Service Overview

This service provides for the migration of data for up to 32 existing Microsoft® Windows® hosts that are
currently attached to a Dell | EMC or CLARiiON® storage array that are being migrated to a new Dell | EMC
storage area network (“SAN”) or direct attached storage (“DAS”) storage array environment (the “Service” or
“Services”) as set forth more specifically in this Service Description. This Service provides for the transfer of up
to 500 gigabytes (“GB”) of data (file and print services only) from an existing host on an existing array to a host
on the new array. Multiple quantities of this Service may be sold together to increase the amount of data being
transferred. This Service also provides for the disconnection of the logical unit numbers (“LUNs”) from the host
servers and the reconnection, configuration, and zoning of the LUNs to a host on the new array.

This Service is only offered in conjunction with the implementation of a new Dell | EMC SAN or DAS attached
storage array, and serves to extend the engagement for the purpose of migrating the data from an existing
storage array to the new Dell | EMC storage array within the same visit.

This Service will be provided during the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm, Customer local time, Monday through
Friday, excluding holidays, unless other arrangements have been made through the Dell sales team and the
project manager.

Not Included With This Service

• Data migration requiring more than one visit to the Customer’s site, involving more than 32 source or
destination hosts, and/ or involving more than one source storage array.
• Data migration plans requiring any change or upgrade to the host servers (such as upgrading the operating
system, installing service packs, or upgrading hardware). All migrated data will only be presented back to
that same server.
• De-installation or re-installation of product(s) or application(s).
• Connection of any hosts to an array. Any migration or configuration from and to the same array, including
array conversions.
• Migration of any application.
• Migration between servers providing less than one gigabit (“Gb”) dedicated Ethernet network link.
• Data migration involving network operating systems (“NOS”) other than the Microsoft supported versions.
• Data migration of clustered servers.
• Performance tuning, system optimization, teaming/load balancing of network interface cards (“NICs”) or
other similar services.
• Data migration from any host server that boots from the storage array.
• Any network (LAN/WAN) activity, including any configuration of Ethernet switches.
• Any activities other than those specifically noted in this Service Description.

Customer’s Responsibilities
• Complete a backup of all existing data and programs on all affected systems prior to the delivery of
this Service. DELL WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR LOSS OR RECOVERY OF DATA OR PROGRAMS
or loss of use of system(s) arising out of the services or support or any act or omission, including
negligence, by Dell or a third-party service provider.
• Verify that an approved operating system, BIOS, service pack, and/or kernel is installed on each server
prior to delivery of this Service, or in the alternative, that appropriate services to meet such requirements
have been purchased in conjunction with this Service.
• Ensure that there is a dedicated, one Gb Ethernet link (such as via a crossover cable or a dedicated switch)
between the servers.
• Provide for an intermediate staging server for each NOS being migrated, when all the existing hosts are
being transferred to the new array.
• Ensure that both the new and old arrays are installed, operational, error-free and connected to the source
and target servers prior to the commencement of this Service.
• Verify that requested data migration plan will not violate copyrights and/or licensing agreements.
• Provide at least one technical contact with applicable system administration access and security privileges
required to perform this Service. Provide the technician with appropriate levels of access and privilege to
systems and information necessary to perform this Service.
• Ensure that there is enough downtime to allow for the complete migration, disconnection, and reconnection
processes. This Service requires that the hosts be offline during the entire process.
• Establish and complete test and validation requirements to verify that data was successfully migrated within
two hours of data migration completion time for each host.
• Migration of applications or configuration of the NOS or NOS services.

Key Service Steps

• Planning:
1. Review and analyze physical environment and connectivity to support data migration. Inventory and
research servers designated for migration.
2. Confirm readiness review and installation dates and highlight stringent dependencies on complete
Customer site readiness and product ship dates to meet the planned installation schedule.
• Design:
1. Review pre-site technical detail and obtain necessary technical configuration information from the
Customer.
2. Verify that the existing configuration meets the minimum hardware and software requirements.
3. Create/modify the design for data migration to the Dell | EMC target array.
4. Verify/review migration targets for migrated data.
5. Verify all target volume/ LUNs are greater than or equal to their source volume size or LUN.
6. Verify that the existing configuration meets the minimum hardware and software requirements.
• Implementation - for each server being migrated:
1. Verify that Customer can validate source data integrity shortly before the migration begins.
2. Prepare the servers for migration:
a. For server to server:
i. Connect the servers together – directly or via Customer’s network infrastructure.
ii. Configure NIC parameters to allow communications between servers.
iii. Validate connectivity.
iv. Install migration software onto source and target servers.
b. For same server:
i. Validate the host bus adapter and drivers have been installed properly.
ii. Install migration software onto server.
c. Validate connectivity to the source LUNs.
d. Validate connectivity to the target LUNs.
3. Perform the actual migration of data.
4. Remove any software installed during this process.

5. Disconnect old server:
a. For server to server migration, power off old hardware.
b. Remove intermediate server from the network, if applicable.
6. Ensure that the Customer tests and validates that the data migrated properly; the Customer can work
with his applications to get the server back into a production state.
7. Resume with the SAN or DAS Implementation Service (sold separately).
• Project Closeout:
1. Obtain Customer acknowledgment of the Services performed.
