Step 1: Chose a country as the focus of your project. The choices are Germany, United Kingdom, or France.
Each group will have a different country.
Step 2: Develop a strategy and assign responsibilities as a team to complete the project.
Step 3: Create a poster board presentation showcasing geographic, historical, and cultural elements of your
country. The presentation will contain 5 displays.
Display 1: Create a poster board map of your country. The map should include a title, compass rose, and
a legend (key) which includes the total population of your country and the symbols you used. The
political features of your map must include the capital city and at least 3 other large cities in the
appropriate locations. It should also label (just the name) any bordering countries. The physical features
must include any mountain ranges, major rivers, lakes, highlands, and valleys. It should also label any
bordering bodies of water (seas, bays, channels, oceans). The map must be geographically accurate
(within reason), neatly drawn and colorful.
Display 2: Create a poster board describing the climate and natural resources of your country. Create a
graphic that shows the average seasonal temperatures and precipitation. List and describe the main
energy resources (oil, natural gas, coal), the main agricultural products, the plants and forests
(landscapes), and the wildlife found in your country. Finally, you must include either colorful drawings
or paste pictures to your poster board that illustrate these examples.
Display 3: Create a timeline of the major events in your country’s history. Cut and tape a poster board
into even sized strips in order to display an extended timeline. Timeline should include the activities of
early Europeans and highlight at least 10 major events leading all the way up to the end of the 20th
century. Include brief descriptions and either pictures or colorful drawings.
Display 4: Create a poster board describing cultural elements within your country. The elements you
must include are the major ethnic groups, the languages spoken, the major religions, and the
governmental system of your country including their current leader. You should also include elements of
art, music, food, and sport. These elements must be particular to your country. Include pictures or
drawings of the cultural elements you describe.
Display 5: Create a poster board describing the economic, immigration, environmental, and foreign
policy and security challenges of your country. Include pictures or drawings of the challenges you
describe.
Step 4: Be prepared to make a presentation and answer questions from your classmates on Monday, November
20th. All team members should contribute to the presentation.
