Reflection #4

An open letter is a letter written to an audience with a purpose in mind, usually to

promote a change. The letter is written in a way where the reader feels the author is talking

directly to them, but it is actually written to reach a larger audience. Open letters sometimes

express an issue that needs resolving, hence the need for a larger audience than a personal letter.

Open letters are not typically “hellos” or “godbyes” or even “how are you doing” they are more

of “this is what is going on”, “are you willing to help?” “here is the solution”. Open letters are

more of an argument than personal letters.
