Vowels are the most open and undifferentiated of sounds; they thus represent the one
most transcendent or absolute of all the nine Planes, the one called the Logoic Plane,
belonging to the Crown chakra. Even the Logoic Plane has subplanes or strata of varying
density within it, and these are represented by the different qualities of the various vowels.
The position of the tongue in the mouth determines the nature of the vowel pronounced,
as well as the corresponding subplane of the chakra or energy center resonating in the
body. The basic principle is simple: the further forward the tongue, the higher the
corresponding chakra. The Rorian tradition acknowledges six basic vowels,
corresponding to the six paired chakras:
As the Logoic or transcendental realm is all-pervasive, we might also say that these
vowels represent not only the various subplanes of the Logoic Plane, but also the Logoic
subplanes of the various other planes.
As one moves the tongue backward and forward, one moves the energy down and up the
chakras in a complete cycle, sounding I-E-A-O-U-W-W-U-O-A-E-I. The downward
(manifesting, "masculine") Name is I-E-A-O-U-W, abbreviated I-A-U, or I-O, and the
upward (ascending, "feminine") Name is W-U-O-A-E-I, abbreviated W-O-E or W-A. I-
A-U or I-O is thus a primary Name of the God, or the Descent, and W-O-E or W-A (often
spelled EVOE or EVA) is a primary name of the Goddess, or the Ascent. Put together,
they make I-A-U-W-O-E, or I-O-W-A, a Name of the Universal God/dess.
As these six chakras are paired, each chakra and its vowel corresponds to two Taurus-
Equinox Zodiac signs with their accompanying planets, and Demiurges. Thus:
A Bard’s Primer 1
I -- Cancer/Moon/Orange-Yellow Sage & Leo/Sun/Yellow Creator
E -- Gemini/Mercury/Orange Mage & Virgo/Isis/Yellow-Green Enchanter
A -- Taurus/Proserpina/Red-Orange Abbess & Libra/Venus/Green Cleric
O -- Aries/Mars/Red Hunter & Scorpio/Neptune/Green-Blue Fowler
U -- Pisces/Uranus/Violet-Red Forester & Sagittarius/Bacchus/Blue Planter
W -- Aquarius/Jupiter/Violet Smith & Capricorn/Saturn/Blue-Violet Mason
Now it appears that if we follow the signs clockwise around the wheel of the year, the
form I-A-U-W-O-E actually only consists of the circle's Masculine Signs (Leo, Libra,
Sagittarius, Aquarius, Aries, and Gemini), and articulate an essentially vertical
(traditionally more "masculine") movement, down and up the Solstices. Truly Feminine
God-names are A-I-E (Dawn to Dusk; Goddess of Day) and O-W-U (Dusk to Dawn;
Goddess of Night), or A-I-E-O-W-U or O-W-U-A-I-E. These express the circle's
Feminine Signs (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces), and articulate a
horizontal (traditionally more "feminine") movement, across the Equinoxes. This is one
way around the possible confusion arising from assigning each sound to two Archetypes,
one male and one female.
We can provide each Archetype with its own specific sound by using diphthongs; i.e.
sounds combining two vowels. The simplest diphthongs are those comprising the single
vowels of the signs immediately flanking the desired sign (and its Archetype). We may
call these the semisextiled diphthongs, as each is drawn from the two signs adjacent -- 30
degrees or semisextile -- to our desired sign, thus:
These semisextiled diphthongs are the most common diphthongs in use; however we also
find various other combinations.
Just as we have vowels for the six paired chakras, we can easily find places in the mouth
for six consonant-families corresponding to the six paired chakras and their Planes:
LABIALS (using both lips, e.g. "P" and "B") -- THIRD EYE and Monadic Plane
A Bard’s Primer 2
LABIODENTALS (upper teeth and bottom lip, e.g. "F" and "V") -- THROAT and Atmic
Plane
DENTALS (tongue between front teeth, e.g. "TH" as in "thin", and "DH" as in "then") --
HEART and Buddhic Plane
ALVEOLARS (tongue just behind upper front teeth, e.g. "T" and "D") -- NAVEL and
Mental Plane
PALATALS (tongue on hard palate, e.g. "CH" and "J") -- SEX and Astral Plane
VELARS or GUTTURALS (tongue in throat against soft palate, e.g. "K" and "G") --
BASE and Physical Plane
By providing both voiced and unvoiced consonants for each of these six families, we
arrive at twelve separate categories. We can ascribe the unvoiced (subtler) consonants to
the "feminine" signs and Archetypes, and the voiced (grosser) consonants to the
"masculine" signs and Archetypes. Thus, of the Labials (Third Eye), "P" belongs to
Cancer/Moon/Orange-Yellow Sage, and "B" belongs to Leo/Sun/Yellow Creator. Of the
Labiodentals (Throat), "F" belongs to Virgo/Isis/Yellow-Green Enchanter, and "V"
belongs to Gemini/Mercury/Orange Mage.
We also have six subcategories of consonants, which we can ascribe to Subplanes of the
six paired chakras:
Fricatives (ongoing sounds, like "F" and "S") -- NAVEL; Mental Subplane
Affricates (combinations of stop and fricative, like "PF" and "TS") -- SEX; Astral
Subplane
Theoretically, there are twelve consonants (six voiced and six unvoiced) for each of the
six subcategories, yielding a full matrix of 72 consonants: 12 "R" semivowels, 12 nasals,
12 "L" semivowels, 12 fricatives, 12 affricates, and 12 stops. Thus, each of the twelve
Demiurges has six consonants: one in each of the subcategories, from "R" semivowel
(Monadic Subplane) down through a stop (Physical Subplane).
A Bard’s Primer 3
Yellow Creator (Sun in Leo) has: (B)R, M, (B)L, BH ("V" with both lips), BBH ("BV"
with both lips), and B.
Yellow-Green Enchantress (Isis in Virgo) has: (F)R or Rh, M(F) or Mh, (F)L or Lh, F, PF
(with lip and teeth), and P (short "F").
Green Cleric (Venus in Libra) has: (DH)R, N(DH) or M(DH), (DH)L, DH, DDH, and D
(short "DH"; "DH" is always pronounced as in there).
Green-Blue Fowler (Neptune in Scorpio) has: (T)R or Rh, (S)N or Nh, (S)L or Lh, S, TS,
and T.
Blue Planter (Bacchus in Sagittarius) has: (ZH)R, N(IA), (ZH)L, ZH, J (DZH), and D
(short "J").
Blue-Violet Mason (Saturn in Capricorn) has: (K)R or Rh, NK or Nh, (K)L or Lh, KH,
KKH, and K.
Violet Smith (Jupiter in Aquarius) has: (G)R, NG, (G)L, GH, GGH, and G.
Violet-Red Forester (Uranus in Pisces) has: (SH)R or Rh, (SH)N(IA) or Nh, (SH)L or Lh,
SH, CH, and C (short "CH"; "CH" is always pronounced as in chair).
Red-Orange Abbess (Proserpina in Taurus) has: (TH)R or Rh, N(TH) or M(TH), (TH)L
or Lh, TH, TTH, and T (short "TH"; "TH" is always pronounced as in thin).
Orange Mage (Mercury in Gemini) has: (V)R, M(V), (V)L, V, BV (with lip and teeth),
and B (short "V").
Orange-Yellow Sage (Moon in Cancer) has: (P)R or Rh, M(PH) or Mh, (PH)L or Lh, PH
("F" with both lips), PPH ("PF" with both lips), and P.
We can now establish a basic diphthonged vowel-and-nasal seed mantra for each of the
paired six chakras, and so for the twelve Taurus-Equinox zodiac signs and their
Demiurges. These vowel-and-nasal seed mantras link the transcendental or Logoic or
Spirit-of-Spirit subplane (vowel) with the Atmic or Body-of-Spirit subplane (nasal) on
each Demiurge's plane. These seed-mantras are short-hand for the process of
manifestation itself, from the crown through the throat as the transcendental spirit
becomes manifest in words of power.

Treasure-Month (ca. March 22 - April 20). It is aligned with the Archangel Rathael
(Raphael), and draws the cooperative attention of the "Giants" or Ancestors (Annunaki).
It is a mantra of divine Touch or Feeling.
We can also posit a basic consonant-and-vowel seed mantra for each of the paired six
chakras, and so for the twelve Taurus-Equinox zodiac signs and their Demiurges. This
mantric family uses stops near the solstices (head and base), affricates in the cross-
quarters (throat and sex), and fricatives near the equinoxes (heart and navel). The mantras
thus resonate with the apparent progress of the Sun as the days lengthen or shorten
through the seasons, and this mantric family is especially apt for Solar Initiations. These
mantras are also used for ascension, as each syllable moves from more manifest
(consonants) to more transcendental or Logoic (vowels).
A Bard’s Primer 7

mantras is DEW (DEH-OO), DEWAA (DEH-WAH), or DAWID (DAH-WID), evoking
A Bard’s Primer 9
the fiery qualities of the shining one, the bringer of the Day or the Springtime. It is keyed
to the Physical Subplane of the Mental Plane, from where it ascends to the Logoic
Realms (and in the case of DAWID, manifests back onto the Mental Plane again).
THA (THAH, with TH as in thin; AH as in father) = Left Heart & Hand; Taurus; Red-
Orange (Persephonian) Abbess
This mantra is used at Aftermatins, between 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 A.M., facing East-
southeast. It evokes the qualities of Treasure-Month (ca. March 22 - April 20). This
mantra enhances devotion, gratitude, and one's ability to receive. It aligns one with

of Archangel Eremiel. It is particularly keyed to the Astral Subplane of the Atmic Plane,
from where it ascends to the Logoic Subplane of the Atmic Plane, and the Atmic Subplane
of the Logoic Plane. Other similar mantras for the Orange Mage are VAIU, meaning
Wind, Air, magical speech, VERE (VEH-REH), meaning truth and true-naming, and
MAI, meaning magic or maya.
The mantras in this family begin with a relatively manifested initial consonant (or
consonants), ascend with the middle vowel(s) into the Logoic or transcendent realm, and
end by moving back into the manifestation of the Atmic realm with the final nasal. They
thus enhance both ascension and manifestation.

BRAEM (BRAH-EHM) or BRAEHIM = (BRAH-EH-HIM) = Right Eye; Leo; Yellow
(Solar) Creator
Traditionally spelled BRAHM or BRAHMA, this mantra is the ultimate Yang or
"masculine" expression of radiance expanding from a contracted point-source; a sun or
star. It is thus a mantra of the Creator and Star-Seer.

power, beauty, and glory." These beautifully describe the blessings of the Magenta
Forestress, Lady of Merchants, temperance and generosity. (Danielou, p. 342.)
RON or RUAN (RAWN or Roo-AHN) = Left Navel & Spleen; Aries; Red Hunter
Traditionally remembered as RAM, this is the mantra of "Fire. Its color is red, its symbol
the triangle, its vehicle the ram." (Danielou, p. 344.) Fire, the color red, and the Ram are
all attributes of the Red Hunter. Another of his mantras is RUAD or RUADRO, also
meaning the Red Lord: remembered in the Vedic tradition as RUDRA and in the Celtic
tradition as RUAD ROFESSA, a title of DAGDA (DAWID). A similar mantra is ORD,
UARD, or WERD, meaning Ruler, Lord, or Guardian. Another is ZORUAN, meaning
the Fiery Red Animal: the (Ram-headed) Serpent or Dragon of Time.

Footnotes
Nine vowels:The expanded system of nine vowels corresponds to the nine chakras and
the nine Subplanes:
As the Crown corresponds to the Summer Solstice, the Solar Plexus to the Equinoxes,
and the Foot to the Winter Solstice, we can pronounce the Circled Cross of the Year as
YHWH. This describes the complete cycle of Manifestation and Ascension between
Spirit and Matter. Another form of this God-Name is IAHU-UUOHE, or YAHU-WOHE.
HYHW or HWHY would be the Equinoctial form describing the alternation of Day and
Night; the expanded Goddess-Name is HAYE-HOWU, or HOWU-HAYE.
A Bard’s Primer 13
EA -- Leo/Sun/Yellow Creator (E of Gemini + A of Libra)
IO -- Virgo/Isis/Yellow-Green Enchanter (I of Cancer + O of Scorpio)
IU -- Libra/Venus/Green Cleric (I of Leo + U of Sagittarius)
EW -- Scorpio/Neptune/Green-Blue Fowler (E of Virgo + W of Capricorn)
AW -- Sagittarius/Bacchus/Blue Planter (A of Libra + W of Aquarius)
OU -- Capricorn/Saturn/Blue-Violet Mason (O of Scorpio + U of Pisces)
UO -- Aquarius/Jupiter/Violet Smith (U of Sagittarius + O of Aries)
WA -- Pisces/Uranus/Violet-Red Forester (W of Capricorn + A of Taurus)
WE -- Aries/Mars/Red Hunter (W of Aquarius + E of Gemini)
UI -- Taurus/Proserpina/Red-Orange Abbess (U of Pisces + I of Cancer)

Squared diphthongs comprise the simple vowels three signs -- 90 degrees or squared --
from our desired sign, and are as follows:
Trined diphthongs comprise the simple vowels four signs -- 120 degrees or trined -- from
our desired sign, and are as follows:
A Bard’s Primer 14
Inconjuncted dipthongs comprise the simple vowels five signs -- 150 degrees or
inconjunct -- from our desired sign, and are as follows:
Opposed dipthongs comprise pairs of the simple vowel six signs -- 180 degrees or in
opposition -- from our desired sign, as follows:
We can also continue on past the opposition to generate another five sets of dipthongs:
Overlapped-inconjuncted, overlapped-trined, overlapped-squared, overlapped-sextiled,
and overlapped-semisextiled. The overlapped-inconjuncted dipthongs' vowels will be the
reverse of the inconjuncted; the overlapped-trines dipthongs will be the reverse of the
trines, and so forth. We could also postulate a final set of overlapped-conjoined dipthongs,
which would be a doubling of the original single-vowel values for each sign.
These various diphthong combinations allow a given sign to terminate in any of the six
vowels, to permit various grammatical declensions. The third-eye chakra's I-ending is the
nominative (subject) case; the throat chakra's E-ending is the vocative; the heart chakra's
A-ending is the dative (indirect object); the navel chakra's O-ending is the accusative
(direct object); the sex chakra's U-ending is the genitive (possessive), and the base
chakra's W-ending is the ablative and instrumental case.
A Bard’s Primer 15
Thus for Mars/Aries/Red Hunter's ZO, "Animal life," we have:
Nine sound-families:
We can also adapt the sound-families to the nine-chakra system's three "transcendental"
chakras by positing vowels for the Crown, aspirates ("H" sounds) for the Solar Plexus,
and glottals (very far back in throat) for the Feet.
Resonate: The sun moves from an apparent standstill (symbolized by a consonant stop,
"G") near the shortest day at Winter Solstice (Aquarius) to wax ever more quickly
(through an affricate -- a stop plus a fricative -- "CH" in Pisces) as it traverses Spring
Equinox (frictionless fricatives "Z" in Aries and "TH" in Taurus), then slowing again
(through an affricate "BV" or "VB" at Gemini) to an apparent standstill through Summer
Solstice (consonant stops "P" in Cancer and and "B" in Leo), then waning (through
affricate "PF" in Virgo) more quickly while traversing Fall Equinox (through fricatives
"DH" in Libra and "S" in Scorpio), then waning more slowly (through an affricate "J" or
"ZHD" in Sagittarius) until it again reaches an apparent standstill (consonant stop "K" in
Capricorn) at Winter Solstice.
