 1. Some important information regarding Airwatch

Please note:

 Only one device per user will be allowed on the VC-BYOD-MDM network
 Pertains to contractors only.
 Windows 7/8/10 (Professional or Enterprise) or Mac is required.
 No Tablets, Mobile or LINUX devices will be enrolled.
 Internet access is required to perform the below steps
 After installation the following should automatically take place:
o Automatically be moved to the new SSID: VC-BYOD-MDM
o Ensure password compliance on the local device

2. Detailed installation and step by step process for Microsoft

Windows
 Download the AirWatch agent from the below link for windows.

- To access the link from the document, hold down ctrl and click left mouse button while hovering
over the link.
- You will be presented with a Windows popup to RUN the link.
- See below the different popup windows depending on your operating system via internet
Explorer.

a. For Microsoft WINDOWS 7 the below pop up will appear. Click Run to start installation.

b. For Microsoft WINDOWS 8/10 the below pop up will appear. Click Run to start installation.

 When Running the default setup.

i. You may be requested to install Prerequisite Software (Microsoft C++ 2015).

ii. Click Ok to install Microsoft C++ 2015.

iii. The installation requires administrator privileges and may prompt for a
username and password to be entered before installation continues.
iv. If prompted for user name and password, this is the PC LOCAL ADMIN
USERNAME AND PASSWORD and NOT your Vodacom credentials.
v. If you do not know your LOCAL ADMIN USERNAME and PASSWORD, you will
need to contact your company’s IT.

 Click Next.

 Select “I accept the terms in the license agreement”, click Next.

 Click install

i. The installation requires administrator privileges and may prompt for a

username and password to be entered before installation continues.
ii. If prompted for user name and password this is the PC LOCAL ADMIN
USERNAME AND PASSWORD and NOT your Vodacom credentials.
iii. If you do not know your LOCAL ADMIN USERNAME and PASSWORD, you will
need to contact your company’s IT

 Click Finish

 3. Configuring airwatch on Microsoft Windows
 Once Airwatch is open select “Authenticate with server detail”

 Enter Group ID:

o Server name = vodamdm.com
o Group ID = VCBYOD
o Click next

 Enter your Vodacom username (don’t include vf-root\ or Vodacom\ in username field) and
password.

 Wait for enrollment to complete. This may take some time.

 Click finish

 Reboot device.

 Login to Windows and confirm if you are automatically connected to the VC-BYOD-MDM
network.

 To do this, follow the below steps depending on your Operating System (WIN 8,10).

a. Check Network on Windows 8 operating system.

Click on the Network Icon.

VC –BYOD-MDM network will show connected

NOTE: If the VC-BYOD-MDM network did not connect automatically, you will have to
select the network manually.

Select VC –BYOD-MDM network

Click on CONNECT

Click on CONNECT.

Network will show connected to the VC-BYOD-MDM network.

b. Check Network on Windows 10 operating system.

Click on the Network Icon.

VC –BYOD-MDM network will show connected

NOTE: If the VC-BYOD-MDM network did not connect automatically, you will have to

Select VC –BYOD-MDM network

Click on CONNECT

Click on CONNECT.

Network will show connected to the VC-BYOD-MDM network.

4 Detailed installation and step by step process for MacBook

 Access the following link on the MacBook to download Airwatch.

To access the link from the document, hold down CTRL and click left mouse button while hovering over
the link.

 Click download

 Run the downloaded File

 Click continues

 Click Continue and Agree to the License

 Click Install

 If prompted for username and password, you need to enter in the local admin username and
password.
 If you do not know your local admin username and password, you will need to contact your
company’s IT.

 Once complete you should see this screen, click close

5 Configuring Airwatch on MacBook
 Airwatch will open up once the installation is completed.
 Select server detail

 Enter the following server details

o Server name = vodamdm.com
o Group ID = VCBYOD
 Click Continue

 Enter your Vodacom username (don’t include vf-root\ or Vodacom\ in the username field) and
password.
 Click next

 Select Enable

 You may be prompted for the local admin user name and password
 If you do not know your local admin username and password, you will need to contact your
company’s IT.

 Enable Air watch under the Security and Privacy by ticking the box next to Airwatch and then
clicking on the lock.

 Once completed the device should automatically connect to the VC-BYOD-MDM.
