Media Arts Form

1) What is Media?
Media to me is using videos, the internet, TV, books, magazines to communicate an idea to
the public.
2) What is Media Arts?
Media arts is basically, arts using the media or technology.
3) What is your field of interest in post secondary education? [i.e. job/plan of
study after high school]?
My field of interest is to be… a pilot, or an engineer, or a food taster, or a doctor, or a
computer programmer, or software engineer, or a scientist….. I’ll probably go to University
(inshallah).

4) Why do you think the topics of media arts important to study? Make a list of
possible benefits it can bring to your field of interest
They are important to study because it helps us to creatively tell stories and communicate
with digital images, sounds and texts. It helps us to understand how the media works and
also how to responding to media. Some benefits include helping us to make posters, ads,
websites, videos.
5) Rate your level of comfort [your ability to work on simple and complex
projects using these] with the following programs from 1-10. 1= I only know
basics 10= I am an expert.

Microsoft Publisher - I used it to edit brochures and poster back in grade 6.
Microsoft Office - I used it for almost every single project or assignment I have ever had.
(although nowadays I use Google Docs)
Microsoft Powerpoint - I used it for almost every single project or assignment I have ever
had. (although nowadays I use Google Slides)
Windows Movie Maker - I always use this program for editing videos.
Paint - I always use this program to edit pictures.
Adobe After Effects - I have used it before to edit video intros.

8) There will be a lot of photo and video projects throughout the semester. What
projects/topics would you like to work on? Give your suggestions below and
some of your ideas may be incorporated in the course!
