Title: Spatial Development Of Bajo Tribal Residence In Wuring Village Maumere City
Spatial study of the Bajo Tribe in the village of Wuring Maumere City to reveal the characteristics of the
settlements of society as the early hometown of Muslim civilization and became the center of spreading Islam in
Sikka District. Historical background as a review in exploring the formation of these settlements and also based
on the geographical, social, cultural and economic aspects of local communities. Approach in this research
using phenomenology method with qualitative descriptive and naturalistic analysis that is describe and interpret
cultural record of Bajo Tribe, in the form of description of history, map document, or artifact of physical
building of Bajo people house. The purpose of this study is to examine spatial development that formed in the
form of spatial system of residence and the aspects underlying the spatial establishment of Bajo Tribe in Wuring
village area as an effort to understand the initial condition until the formation of kampung settlement which
contains the substance of planning idea of the function, variations in shape and development. The results of this
study provide an overview of the spatial system of occupancy about the organization of space, space orientation
and hierarchy of space within the scope of micro-shelter and environmental messo that is generally, there is a
phenomenon of development of space in (micro) ma'bunda-ma'buli phenomenon and roma timbo phenomenon
(home grown) and the phenomenon of toloh-timbo diaruma (diaruma stage house) due to non-physical aspects
underlying the spatial formation of settlements in the Wuring kampong area.
