Community Update
The Kinglake Ranges, Flowerdale and Toolangi Plan and Design Framework
planning process is well underway.

The Plan will establish a vision for a sustainable future for the area, based on the
values and priorities that have been identified by local communities. It will guide
future land use and development, infrastructure and services provision, economic
development, community safety and the character and identity of local communities.

Over recent months local residents have contributed to the planning process through
a range of meetings and forums, identifying the issues, priorities and values that are
important to them.

The project team has also been working with technical advisers, government
departments and responsible authorities to investigate issues that will have a bearing
on the future of these communities.

The planning process is expected to be completed early in 2011.

Future Directions paper

A Future Directions paper will be released in late September. This will outline a
vision for the future of the areas and the key directions that could be pursued to
achieve that vision.

The Future Directions paper provides the basis for discussions with local
communities in early October about the scenarios and design frameworks that could
deliver these directions. It will also form the basis of the draft Plan to be exhibited for
public consultation later this year.

The paper will be accompanied by the release of a Community Consultation Report

that summarises the outcomes of the consultation process and an issues paper that
will summarise findings in relation to the key themes of:

Water Nature and its Risks People and Settlement

Environment Connections Economy
Health and Wellbeing Character and Identity

To get a copy of the Future Directions paper go to www.kftplan.com.au or visit a local

project information booth at Flowerdale Integrated Planning Office, Toolangi
Neighbourhood House or Kinglake RAC.
