McDonald’s American Samoa Scholarship Awards for 2018-2019 Academic Year:
4 ea $2000 Scholarship Awards to qualified applicants to attend ASCC 1. One for applicants from low income families. Low income families for purposes of this award is defined as the combined income of both parents/guardians of $19,000 or less. 2. One for applicants from the general public 3. One for applicants majoring in any of the trades: electrical, plumbing, air conditioning/refrigeration, drafting, engineering, etc. 4. One for McDonald’s employee and/or their dependents One ea $10,000 Scholarship Awardto a qualified applicant who has completed the required courses for an AA degree at ASCC and is continuing his/her degree program at an accredited US college/university ASCC Scholarship Award To qualify for ASCC awards, applicant must have: Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or better SAT score of 1000 or ASCC Placement in English 150/151 or Math 151 Three Letters of Reference with at least one from faculty/counselor Official copy of birth certificate or photo ID Official transcript including 2017 Fall and final for 2018 Spring semesters Parents/Guardians 2017 Tax Return Essay, a one page, doubled space, 12 font on why applicant should get award Personal interview Recipients of ASG scholarship awards are ineligible for McDonald’s Award Off-island Scholarship Award To qualify for off-island awards, applicants must: Be a graduate of ASCC Class of Dec 2017 or May 2018 Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or better Letter of Acceptance from an accredited US college/university Three Letters of Reference Essay – one page, double spaced, 12 font on why applicant should award Official copy of birth certificate or Photo ID Official transcript including 2017 Fall and final for 2018 Spring semesters Parents/Guardians 2017Tax Return Personal Interview Recipients of ASG scholarship awards are ineligible for McDonald’s award
Scholarship Maintenance Requirements for ASCC and Off-island
Recipients are obligated to fulfill the following conditions to maintain award: Must be a full time student with a minimum of 12 credits towards degree program for two consecutive semesters Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better Student is responsible for sending copy of official transcript to McDonald’s. You must authorize your school and pay the fee to mail your updated official transcript to: McDonald’s, P.O. Box 577, Pago Pago, AS 96799. McDonald’s must receive the official transcript in a timely manner in order to facilitate the disbursement of second semester awards. Off-island recipients must declare a major Non registration or early withdrawal, suspension/expulsion, or non-attendance of classes will result in the forfeiture of award Second Year Awards At the completion of their first year at ASCC or third year of college off island, students may be eligible for second/fourth year awards provided they have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and provided they meet all other requirements as noted above. Applicants should note that the granting of a scholarship to first/third year recipients does not guarantee or ensure the granting of a scholarship award for any subsequent years and neither the Scholarship Committee nor McDonald’s has any obligation or duty to fund a second or subsequent year. The application package must include the following items and is available from our Facebook Page (McDonald’s American Samoa) or at McDonald’s Head Office in Nuuuli beginning Mar 2, 2018 between 2pm and 4pm Mondays to Fridays. Incomplete packages will not be considered.
