Introduction

People nowadays are living in an information age dependent upon

digital information. Digital information is electronic information, the result of
computer processing. Every type of job relies upon getting information, using
It, managing it and relaying information to others. Computers allow the
environment friendly technology then storage over information.

A grading system plays a key role in the management system of ay

school. But, such systems do not often relate expectations, outcomes, and
performance. As each student desires to achieve a good score for each
assignment, exam, project and/or report face-to-face and OED, the whole
process as heavy workload for teachers to make their evaluation fair,
comprehensive, and accurate. From the faculty perspective, these are
necessary to avoid disagreement from students and parents. A computerized
grading system is a highly desirable addition to the educational tool-kit,
particularly when it can provide less effort and more effective ad timely
outcome.

Grading system is designed to provide incentives for achievement and

assist in identifying problem areas of a student. It is the most commonly used
means of analyzing student performance, talents and skills. Students' grades
are vital information needed in advancing to the next grade/year level and its
accuracy is very important.

Many teachers feel that time they take in recording and computing for
the grades of their students is time that could be better spent elsewhere, like
preparing lessons, researching or meeting with their students. With the
advent of computer technology, more and more schools are taking advantage
of a variety of grading systems available both off-line and online that can help
save time o administrative tasks and give teachers more time to other
important function however, a greater majority, especially small schools,
government schools, and schools in remote areas, still utilize the manual
method of recording and computing for the grades of the students.
The proponents of this study wish to reduce the workload of teachers
by eliminating the need for tradition or manual computation and recording of
each grade. The common problems encountered in manual recoding and
computations are error and file-handling, and redundancy. As the workload
gradually increase with growing amounts of grades and student lists that need
to be attended, it becomes tedious on the part of the teacher to proficiently
manage them in time for documentation and file submission to higher
education authorities. As such, this paper aims to produce a workable
computerized grading system that will are address these issues.

Background of the study

AMA Computer Colleges is a private school in Las Pinas city. AMA

University and its sister school AMA Computer College (AMACC) were founded
by Dr. Amable R. Aguiluz V, who named them after the initials of his father's
name, Amable Mendoza Aguiluz, Sr. Dr. Aguiluz saw the demand for fully
trained computer professionals in the country. However, no institution in the
country offered computer education to professionals.

Aguiluz founded the AMA Institute of Computer Studies with the first
computer school located along Shaw Boulevard on 20 October 1980. At that
time, AMA Institute of Computer Studies offered only short-term courses
in Electronic Data Processing Fundamentals, Basic Programming, and
Technology Career. Three students enrolled at the AMA Institute of Computer
Studies during the first semester.

The school maintains a small staff of teachers and personnel as

compared to its growing population. There are teachers handling as much as
four different subjects, aside being class adviser and area coordinator
including OED. Majority of the teachers handle three (3) different sections.
The process entails a lot of and by computing and storing data. Being prone
to error is possible a just by a single mistake, repeating the process may be
required.
Developing a computerized grading system for AMA Computer Colleges
Las Pinas of Grade 12 Senior High School would make the task of recording
and computing grades easier for the teachers. This will not only benefit the
teachers of the school but will also benefit the students because of the
improvement in the accuracy of calculating and in the proficiency and
productivity of the teachers.

Statement of the Problem

The goal of the study is how to create computerized Grading System for
AMA Computer Colleges Grade 12 teachers. To create the module that will
automatically compute the students’ grade. To help the teachers to ease their
work using this system. To avoid miscomputation of students’ grade. And to
create a module that will display the students’ record.

Significance of the study

This study made by the researchers provides convenience to its user

through the easier and faster way of recording information. Grading System
is a very important aspect of a school’s operation and goals.
A Computerized Grading System for AMA Computer Colleges Senior
High Grade 12 will provide a marked improvement in the way teacher’s record
and compute for the grade of the students.

The study is beneficial to the following:

 Faculty Teachers
This study will help to the teachers to ease their
work using this system this study will help teachers to
facilitate students' grade and it is also modern and timely.
If they allow to use this system, the work of teachers will
be reduced
 School Administrators
This study will help the teachers to lessen their work
and no longer have to re-compute the grades of each
students. And they can pass the report card on time.
 Students
The purpose of this study was to help the students to
be informed on what their grade is, by the used of this
system.

 Researcher
The researcher will conduct the study that will help
the teachers to ease their works. And the teacher will no
longer have to re-compute the students’ grade.

 Future Researcher
This future researchers who will conduct studies
will realize that the traditional grade reporting process
can be enhanced from manual processing to offline
paperless system.

Scope and Limitations

Scope:
The computerized grading system offers more than just a class
card function, issuance of the summary grading sheets which include the
grades of the students. The system will lessen the work, the system is secured
and protected for teachers, can compute the grades of face-to-face and OED,
and can view the grades to the teachers list. The system is exclusively designed
for the faculty members/teachers.

Limitations:
The grading system is created to avoid miscomputations of
students’ grades and recheck the grades, this system create the module that
will automatically compute the grades of the students. Grading system have
list of the students records/grades but it limited to the user/teachers only
and cannot view online, cannot open by students because it secured of
password.
