Multisim - Getting Started Tutorial

1. Launch Multisim – NI Multisim 14.0 (or the version that you have).
2. Name the File – Save As – Your Name Getting Started.

3. From the Component Bar: Do the following:


a. Select Place Source – Power Source – DC Power – OK. Place the battery (V1) on
the circuit board (that is, on the page).
b. Select Place Basic – On the left of the screen Select Resistor – OK.
c. Select Place Indicator - On the left of the screen Select Ammeter – OK.
d. Connect the components by clicking on each and drawing the conductor (will
change to a red line) by moving the cursor – Click to connect to the other
component. You are now drawing Figure 1.
e. Select Place Source – Power Source – Ground – OK.
f. Connect the ground as shown in Figure 1.
g. Click Simulate on the Menu Bar – RUN (Green arrowhead) OR Click the Green
arrowhead on the Component Bar.
h. Click on the Red Block to end the simulation.
i. Verify the accuracy of the reading on the ammeter (U1).

Note: To change component values – click on the label or the value of the component –
Click on label to change that or on Value to change that.

4. Use the same procedures to build Figure 2.

Note: In these particular circuits - U1 and U2 are ammeters and U3 and U4 are voltmeters.

5. Verify your results by written calculations.
